#WATCH | Mumbai, Maharashtra: On Indian Olympic Association (IOA), led by President PT Usha, officially banned the Karate India Organisation (KIO).
Salauddin Ansari, Chairman of the Training and Development Commission for the KIO, says, "...Since 2020, we have repeatedly submitted applications to the Indian Olympic Association, requesting membership based on our affiliation with the world body. This is because Rule 28 of the International Olympic Charter clearly states that if a national federation is recognized by the world body, the country's Olympic body must also grant it recognition... yet we haven't received any reply and we have been struggling for 6 years... We received a notice letter from PT Usha on June 1st, stating that the KIO cannot use the word 'India' in its name. Secondly, we had a national tournament scheduled for the 4th in Uttarakhand... we were told we couldn't label it 'National'... PM Modi is doing a wonderful job promoting sports... however, the recent letter left me feeling a bit disheartened... We receive no help from corporate houses or the government, yet we have brought so many laurels and medals to India. part of the game... PT Usha, who loves sports, needs to look at the staff within her office. You can't just suddenly decide to send out a letter; that’s not how it works..." (09.06)
