The power of one vote. During TMC rule, Moharram processions in Rishra witnessed open display of swords, leaving common citizens fearful. This year, Moharram was observed peacefully—with no weapon display and no disruption to public life. One vote can change everything. One vote can bring peace. One vote can transform West Bengal under a Double Engine Government.

🖋️ *From The Desk of Abhijeet Rane* The Indian healthcare system is facing growing scrutiny over allegations of unnecessary treatments, insurance fraud, unethical referrals, and regulatory failures. Several reports and investigations have highlighted concerns ranging from avoidable surgeries and inflated medical bills to commission-based referrals, diagnostic kickbacks, and pharmaceutical incentives. Cases involving prolonged life support, disputed insurance claims, and alleged organ trafficking have further intensified public debate. Parliamentary committees and health policy experts have repeatedly called for stronger oversight, greater transparency, and stricter enforcement of medical ethics. While many healthcare professionals continue to provide dedicated and ethical care, these reported malpractices underscore the need for systemic reforms. Strengthening regulation, improving accountability, protecting patient rights, and ensuring transparent medical practices remain essential to restoring public trust in India’s healthcare system. abhijeetrane.in mumbaimitra.com #Pakistan #CivilizationalRoots #IndusValleyCivilization #AncientHistory #RamNavami #Rishra #WestBengal #LawAndOrder #ViralVideo #SocialMedia #HowToKillMen #KatyBrent #Books #DarkComedy #India #Russia #CrudeOil #OilImports #EnergySecurity #StraitOfHormuz #Healthcare #India #MedicalEthics #HealthcareReform #PatientRights 🔽 2/2

🖋️ *From The Desk of Abhijeet Rane* Pakistan is increasingly rediscovering its pre-Islamic civilizational roots. References to the Indus Valley Civilization, the legacy of Panini, Sanskrit, and the Mahabharata are finding renewed space in public discourse. A growing number of scholars are revisiting the history of kings such as Porus, Dahir, and Anandapala, recognizing them as part of the region's indigenous heritage rather than viewing Ghazni and Ghori as the sole historical icons. Interest in restoring ancient Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Sikh heritage sites has also grown in recent years, alongside discussions on preserving classical languages and traditional knowledge. If this trend continues, it may gradually reshape Pakistan's understanding of its own past. History often comes full circle, and civilizations eventually rediscover the deeper roots from which they once emerged. abhijeetrane.in mumbaimitra.com 🔽 🖋️ *From The Desk of Abhijeet Rane* India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Shakir Ali, a municipal councillor and the husband of former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Arupa Poddar (Afrin Ali), in connection with the 2023 Ram Navami violence in Rishra, West Bengal. A video showing a woman reading a book titled How to Kill Men on a metro has gone viral, attracting over 19 million views and igniting debate across social media. Many viewers were alarmed by the provocative title, assuming it promoted violence. However, the book is actually How to Kill Men and Get Away With It by Katy Brent—a fictional dark comedy and psychological thriller, not a real-life guide. The novel follows a fictional protagonist targeting abusive men in a satirical crime story. While some users appreciated the context and dismissed the outrage, others argued that such sensational titles are intentionally designed to attract attention. Although the location and timing of the video remain unverified, the incident highlights how a single image or book title can trigger widespread online discussion. abhijeetrane.in mumbaimitra.com 🔽 🖋️ *From The Desk of Abhijeet Rane* Amid the ongoing US-Iran tensions and fears of supply disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, India has significantly increased its imports of Russian crude oil. According to recent shipping data, Russian oil accounted for more than half of India’s total crude imports in June, marking a record high. Indian refiners have accelerated purchases to ensure stable energy supplies while taking advantage of discounted Russian crude. The strategy has helped India reduce its dependence on volatile Middle Eastern supplies and cushion the impact of rising global oil uncertainty. As geopolitical tensions continue to reshape global energy markets, India’s pragmatic approach to diversifying crude sources has once again drawn international attention, highlighting its focus on energy security, affordability, and uninterrupted fuel supplies despite global instability. abhijeetrane.in mumbaimitra.com 🔽 1/2

A 39-year-old resident of Hooghly’s Rishra allegedly killed his 31-year-old wife at their rented home on Saturday morning, travelled 20km to Kolkata, and died by suicide hours later by jumping in front of a metro train at Belgachhia station around 3pm. The suicide disrupted services on the Blue Line for 50 minutes. Late on Friday, Dipankar and Monika Sarkar’s neighbours at Government Colony in Natungram heard the couple quarrelling bitterly. Alarmed by screams and cries for help by a domestic help who reached the couple’s home at 8am on Saturday, the neighbours informed police, who arrived an hour later to find Monika lying in a pool of blood, her throat slit, with the couple’s seven-year-old daughter sleeping beside her mother’s body. Dipankar, a private firm employee, was missing. Rishra cops registered a case under Sections 85 and 103(1) of BNS and sent the couple’s seven-year-old child to her maternal grandmother’s home. A search was launched for Dipankar and an alert sent out to all police stations. After 3pm, Ultadanga PS cops identified the man, who had jumped to his death at Belgachhia Metro Station, as Dipankar and alerted their counterparts in Rishra. Police said Monica’s family alleged Dipankar suspected his wife of having an extra-marital affair. But neighbours told cops the couple often fought over Dipankar’s affair with a married woman. “We are looking into the possible involvement of a third person,” said Arnab Biswas, DCP, Serampore.
A man from West Bengal's Hooghly district allegedly murdered his wife over suspicions of an extramarital affair before ending his own life by jumping onto the tracks at Kolkata's Belgachia Metro Station on Saturday. According to police, the body of Monika Sarkar (32) was found with her throat slit inside her rented house in Rishra on Saturday morning. Later in the afternoon, at around 3 PM, a man identified as Dipankar Sarkar (40) took his own like. Investigations revealed that he was Monika's husband and the prime suspect in her murder. Arnab Biswas, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Chandannagar Police Commissionerate, said Monika's body was recovered from the bedroom of the couple's rented residence and bore a deep cut on the throat. Family members of the deceased alleged that Dipankar killed his wife because he suspected her of having an extramarital relationship. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at the Rishra Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said Dipankar lived with his wife and their six-year-old daughter in a rented house in Rishra's No. 3 Government Colony. He worked in Delhi and visited home only occasionally. According to neighbours, arguments and commotion were heard from the couple's house on Friday night. The next morning, when a neighbour knocked on the door and received no response, the house was opened and Monika's body was found inside, while the couple's six-year-old daughter was sleeping nearby. Investigators suspect that Monika was first strangled and then her throat was slit. The body has been sent to Walsh Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Monika's brother said he was unaware of the reasons behind the couple's dispute.

NIA names Rishra TMC councillor Shakir Ali as key conspirator in 2023 Ram Navami violence The National Investigation Agency has identified Trinamool Congress councillor Shakir Ali as the “main conspirator and instigator” behind the violence that broke out during the Ram Navami procession in Hooghly’s Rishra in 2023, the agency told a court on Tuesday. Ali, the councillor of Ward 4 of Rishra Municipality, is the husband of Aparupa Poddar, former TMC MP from Arambagh. He was arrested by the NIA on Tuesday after a search operation at Poddar’s residence in Rishra. Charges levelled by the NIA in court Appearing before the court, the NIA alleged that Ali had “orchestrated the conspiracy” to create unrest on Ram Navami and was behind the stockpiling of brickbats and crude bombs in the area ahead of the procession. The agency further submitted that Ali’s political influence had stalled legal action at the time. “When the incident occurred, his wife was an MP, and he himself was a councillor, because of which the local administration could not take any legal steps against them,” the NIA told the court. It added that even after the change of government in the state, no action had been possible until now. During Tuesday’s raid, NIA officials said they recovered 36 rounds of ammunition from Ali’s house. 2023 violence Violence erupted in Rishra on the evening of 2 April 2023, when a Ram Navami procession was passing through the area. Stones were pelted, shops and houses were vandalised, and vehicles were set on fire. Several police personnel and BJP’s Pursurah MLA Biman Ghosh were injured. The Calcutta High Court later ordered an NIA probe into the clashes in Rishra, Howrah’s Shibpur and North Dinajpur’s Dalkhola, noting that explosives had been used. Still, the state police had not invoked the Explosive Substances Act. The NIA subsequently registered six cases, including two related to Rishra. Arrest and fallout An NIA team, accompanied by CRPF personnel, reached Ali’s Rishra residence on Tuesday morning and questioned him for several hours before placing him under arrest. He was produced before the competent court following the arrest. “The investigation is continuing, and we are examining the role of all individuals connected with the conspiracy and the violence,” an NIA official said. Aparupa Poddar, a two-time TMC MP, was denied a party ticket for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. There was no immediate official reaction from the TMC on Ali’s arrest.
