hell yeah Europe go get em

bro this is why you must also rip every bluray and dvd you buy to a massive NAS & cloud based storage platform at full bitrate IT'S CALLED REDUNDANCY
Before streaming, I was a big DVD collector. I bought nearly a thousand movies. I thought I was building a library. And I will tell you a secret: DVDs rot. The glue that holds the layers together can become opaque so the laser doesn’t read the disc properly or it can simply degrade so the disc falls apart or it can warp or expand so the disc won’t spin properly in the drive. So, in addition to needing to keep antique hardware with delicate moving parts in working order to play these games or watch these movies, the media itself is degrading. Yeah, your purchased digital movie might get deleted from the network over rights issues at some point in the future or the service that provides it might shut down. But if you buy a BluRay and put it on a shelf for five years and then decide to watch it, there is a decent chance it won’t work. I love a beautiful Criterion movie box set or a game with cool box art and a manual as much as the next guy, but people overly romanticize physical media. The universe is governed by entropy and everything is falling apart.

According to Sony, DVDs can last "anywhere from 30 to 100 years when properly stored and handled". Blu-Ray Discs are expected to last the same if not longer with its additional protective coating. sony.com/electronics/su… xda-developers.com/i-thought-blu-…

having recently finally played PT thanks to preservation efforts this is 100% medically accurate
Piracy is a moral imperative for video game preservation. Entire chunks of the history of the medium would be either prohibitively expensive or outright lost if not for it.

Way to see the trend line moving and then do the opposite thing. Visionary stuff.

the ~78/22 digital-to-physical split this figure includes all games sold globally — many of which are digital-only indies, live-service titles, DLCs, or smaller projects that never receive a physical release due to budget constraints. x.com/mrpyo1/status/…

If you are on the verge of AGI or ASI, why isn’t your model smart enough to recognize espionage distillation in real time? You say “cure cancer in a few years.” Isn’t sniffing illicit distillation quite a bit easier than curing cancer? Why write letters to DC? Just use AGI.
