New robot things coming along at the lab Multimodal semi-humanoid robot: (1) UGV mode it uses its tracks to move around non-holonomic terrain, flippers enable nudge itself (2) In Quadruped mode (dog robot mode) the flippers turn into 4 legs which allow for slow pace locomotion

Interesting how all “shipping soon” home robots are converging on similar designs with some gradation on the grippers actuators. Subscription price (monthly or per visit) is also smart for adoption. @NoriRobotics 1.2k @weaverobotics 8k @sundayrobotics ~10k (20k one off unit)

The robot demo that draws a crowd in person is almost never the one that goes viral online. At every robotics floor we've been on, from CES to ICRA, the longest line isn't the backflip. It's the robot folding shirts.

Definitely an interesting experience. But, also definitely early in the market. Androids have a long way to go. Besides attempting to develop hyperrealistic humanoid bodies, these androids need improved human-robot interaction design (if autonomous), and proprioception.

Besides showcasing their new androids, I believe today’s UBTech announcement is a pushing towards more research on areas such as synthetic skin (e-skin), telepresence and human-robot interaction. Their entire set up is pretty much WestWorld themed.

I’m in China, at UBTech’s launch event of the U1 android series and it’s insane!! These are full-size bionic humanoid robots they plan to ship end of 2026. I like that a lot of their models have western fantasy style and some of them look like they belong in Legend of Zelda.
