This morning, I had the honor of beginning this Fourth of July by paying tribute to the true heroes of our nation at the Veterans Ceremony, hosted by the Mayor’s Committee for Veterans Affairs. This longstanding tradition reminds us that the foundation of our freedom is built on the service and sacrifice of our veterans. Thank you to all veterans and active military for your sacrifice. 🇺🇸 Congratulations as well to Fernanda Mendoza, a Flour Bluff NJROTC alumna, on receiving the CCMV4A Scholarship. Wishing her continued success as she carries forward the values of service, leadership, and dedication. #VeteransCeremony #MilitaryService #FourthofJuly

This Independence Day, we honor the courage of the men and women who have worn the uniform of our Armed Forces, both past and present. Their sacrifice is the reason we celebrate our freedom today. As Mayor, I am proud to stand with our veteran and active-duty military community. They are the backbone of Corpus Christi and a source of strength across our nation. We are a proud military city, and that pride shines especially bright on the 4th of July. Thank you to all the brave men and women of our military who defend the freedoms we celebrate on this Fourth of July. We honor you today and every day. Happy Independence Day, Corpus Christi! 🇺🇸 #CorpusChristiStrong #July4thCC

While picking up Taco’s meds at Animal Medical Clinic (top-notch!), I ran into Officer Chris Lynch and the adorable K-9 Officer Justice! Taco got his medicine, and I got an unexpected dose of happiness. Justice is a great reminder of the incredible role our K-9 officers play in keeping our community safe while winning hearts everywhere they go. The perfect little surprise to end the week. 🐶💙🐾

On Tuesday, City Council took an important step forward by approving Phase 2 of the Reclaimed Water for Industrial Use Project. This is one of those investments that doesn’t always get a lot of attention, but it makes a real difference for our community. Simply put, this project allows us to take highly treated wastewater and reuse it for industrial purposes. That means we can preserve more of our drinking water supply for homes, families, and everyday needs. The $107.5 million project includes building a reclaimed water pipeline from the Oso Water Reclamation Plant to the Greenwood Water Reclamation Plant, along with a new pump station, wet well, and supporting infrastructure to make the system work safely and efficiently. When it’s complete, we’ll be able to add up to 11 million gallons per day of reclaimed water capacity, bringing our total program to as much as 16 MGD for industrial use. This is smart, forward-looking infrastructure that helps us stretch our water supply further and protect it for the future. Construction is expected to be completed in May 2027. #WaterSecurity #Infrastructure #WaterFuture

A major advancement in emergency medical care is now on the ground in Corpus Christi. The Corpus Christi Fire Department has launched its new Prehospital Whole Blood Program, giving first responders the ability to administer whole blood to patients experiencing life-threatening blood loss before they reach the hospital. This critical resource can help improve survival outcomes when every minute matters. This milestone reflects months of planning, training, and collaboration with our medical partners and would not be possible without the generosity of local blood donors. It represents another step forward in strengthening emergency medical services and enhancing the level of care available to residents and visitors alike. 🩸🚑 #PublicSafety #EMS #DonateBlood

Some moments remind us just how deeply our public servants care for one another. Today, I recognized Parks & Recreation employees Jesus Regino (not pictured), Christian Davis, and Billy Morales for their quick thinking and heroic actions that helped save coworker Eddie Rodriguez’s life earlier this year. During a lunch break, Eddie began choking, and their swift response, including performing the Heimlich maneuver, ultimately saved him. Their courage, teamwork, and willingness to act in a critical moment are a powerful reminder that heroes walk among us every day. Thank you, Jesus, Christian, and Billy, for stepping up when it mattered most. #PublicService #CommunityHeroes

On Father’s Day, we honor the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who make a lasting difference in our lives. Today, I’m especially thinking of my own dad. I miss him, but I’m grateful for everything he taught me, the example he set, and the memories he gave us throughout his life. A special Happy Father’s Day to my husband, Victor, and to all the dads who love, support, and show up for their families every day. Wishing everyone a happy and meaningful Father’s Day. ❤️ #FathersDay #FamilyFirst #Gratitude

On Juneteenth, we reflect on a day that represents freedom, resilience, and the continued pursuit of equality for all. Today is also a time to come together as a community and recognize the strength, culture, and contributions of Black Americans who have helped shape our city and our nation. The Annual Juneteenth State of Black Businesses Policy Luncheon highlighted the vital role Black-owned businesses play in creating jobs, expanding opportunity, and strengthening our local economy. It was an honor to attend this important event and present a Commendation Certificate to Professor William Michael Cunningham, economist, impact investing specialist, and professor at Georgetown University, in recognition of his contributions to economic empowerment and financial inclusion. The event also celebrated two scholarship recipients, recognizing the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs who will help shape the future of our community. Thank you to the Corpus Christi Black Chamber of Commerce for the invitation and for your continued leadership in advancing entrepreneurship and economic opportunity throughout our community. #Juneteenth2026 #EconomicOpportunity #BlackChamber

Today, on Flag Day, we recognize a symbol that has represented our nation for nearly 250 years. The American flag reminds us of the freedoms we cherish, the sacrifices made to protect them, and the shared values that bring us together as a community and as a country. Here in Corpus Christi, we are proud of our strong military heritage and grateful for the service members, veterans, and military families who continue to strengthen our city every day. As we fly our flag today, may it serve as a reminder of the courage, service, and unity that define our nation. 🇺🇸 #FlagDay #MilitaryCommunity #AmericanPride

Great news for our community! Whitecap Beach has been named one of the top beaches in Texas in the 2026 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Our beaches are the top reason people visit our city and a place both residents and visitors enjoy year-round. This recognition reflects the care that goes into keeping our shoreline clean, welcoming, and a true community treasure. Visitor spending reached an estimated $1.2 billion in 2025, supporting local small businesses, hotels, restaurants, and attractions across our city. Thank you to our Parks and Recreation team for the pride and hard work they put into taking care of our coastline every day. #TexasBeaches #GulfCoast

People like Cody Lankford remind us that heroes live right here in our community. ⭐️ Earlier this week, I was proud to recognize Cody for his bravery in helping rescue a resident from a burning mobile home earlier this year. His quick actions and willingness to put someone else’s safety before his own made a difference when it mattered most. A Roy Miller High School JNROTC student, Cody will continue his commitment to service when he joins the U.S. Army this September. Thank you, Cody. Corpus Christi is proud of you! #ServiceAboveSelf #CommunityHero
