Everyone wants a β€œSlack built from scratch” to better cowork with agents, and @andocorporation is building it. I spent a month with them to write a deep dive piece on Sara's story and the Ando product (the first public piece about their product, ever - no pressure!) Here it is! πŸ’« I write about: - @saradu’s 2x founding journey from Alloy to Ando, couchsurfing across hacker houses in SF - making workplace chatter β€˜ergonomic for agents’ - architecture-inspired design principles - early alpha customers experience with ando This was incredibly fun to write, thanks to many walks, office visits, and conversations with @saradu, @ryanharaki_ , Jordan, Oliver, @sofiadolfe from Index, and the wider Ando team.

you know you are seeing someone clearly when you understand "how their genius lives right next to their dysfunction" as @GrahamDuncanNYC puts it. in friendships, partnerships, you need an inherent discernment for how to nudge or coax the best parts of genius out of the shell.

I really like this framing of resourcefulness as a competency

bewilders me why we would use AI to read instead of using AI to find more interesting and fun things to read! Getting constantly nerdsniped by Claude

Most writing that feels "real" usually means looking at the world with more cynicism. Nix's writing is rare in that it feels intimately real yet inspires optimism every time I read her work. It was such a joy to hang out with her as we launched Tomo out of stealth:

β€œOne of the things I know about writing is this: spend it all, shoot it, play it, lose it, all, right away, every time… give it, give it all, give it now… anything you do not give freely and abundantly becomes lost to you. You open your safe and find ashes.” Annie Dillard
.@startingfromnix: "Creativity and the soul that you put into your work are renewable." "There's always going to be more inspiring things to read in the world or ingest." "The deeper you go, the richer it gets. I remind myself that no matter what I do, I will never reach the bottom of this well. That's something that really drives me forward."

Daily reminder: "To endure something is obviously exhausting and agonizing, but at the same time, you must also continue to hold what you regard as important close to your heart and to nurture it." "Should you ever relinquish what you truly hold dear, the only path left to you will be that of a pencil pusher, the type of animator whose sense of self-worth is determined by the numerical amount of their earnings or whose cycles between joy and despair are over the high or low rating his work receives."

more broadly I want to build a list of best restaurants to host at in SF/NYC - central, good food, artsy, has corners where you can hear other people talking, close to a second spot for dessert/hanging after the party is over e.g., camino alto / ernest / dalida in SF

To an outsider, company launches from stealth appear like a random constellation of events. To my surprise, launches – otherwise β€˜telling the world who you are’ is now an arena of great sophistication and importance. very cool to witness it in action share some learnings

I'm doing a bunch of these shorter "hanging out" pieces with founder friends observing their day to day and behind the scenes. It's been very fun so far!
