anyway here's the story of how i worked with a cafe (isshiki matcha) to import the olympic village muffins for a popup in nyc... buckle up for an old fashioned tweet thread
NYC is not a real place because tell me why I acquired the viral Olympic Village chocolate muffins (literally flown over from Paris) at a matcha shop in the village 😭

this was my favourite X moment this week. this tweet got 3M views and turned my feed into hundreds of people sharing poems they love and introducing each other to new work. X at its best as a generative discovery platform i really do believe the world could be better if more people read poetry more often. when someone says they’re simply ‘not a poetry person’, i think they just have not yet found the right poem for them. many people have only encountered poetry through high school english class, which is not always the most illuminating entry point helping people find the poems that unlock poetry as a genre for them, and converting more people into poetry, is one of my life’s passionate side causes
everyone wants to say "this poem sucks" that poem sucks"" etc but very few brave enough to say Helllo, here is a poem i LIKE!! This is my taste!

New website day!! Spent the last week saying goodbye to squarespace and building my own personal and expressive site. Includes nearly everything I've made in the last 10 years and some easter eggs too, I would love feedback :) tabb.me

Ok I have tried every futuristic method for making a deck. For your best work I think you gotta sit in front of Keynote with your notes and suffer

the future i want is local dark factories in garages, schools, offices: - robot arms for my 3d printers to automate management & maintenance (clear out print bed, achieve 24/7 utilization, fix tangled filament) - if i need more capacity for a production sprint, send prints to available 3d printers nearby - courier service to deliver materials & prints back and forth - ai agent handles production communication & disputes every hobbyist could turn their unused home 3d printer into a side income stream & enables more distributed / custom / small-scale manufacturing

i wanted to prove to myself that i learned a fuckton from my first hardware product (poetry camera) by shipping a second product better and faster this time around. last week, our lamp prototype felt kind of ugly and broken, but @tinki_loh and i decided to yolo a prototype batch for our friends. we trusted ourselves enough to know that we would figure it out. so starting last friday we set up a shopify & website, sold out a private alpha batch, completely redesigned the enclosure, brought up new PCBs, fixed reliability & UX issues, assembled our first units, created simple packaging, and overshot our production goal. wednesday night, we started delivering them to our first customers (including jeah, pictured below). ship before you feel ready

Models appear to be garbage at creating high quality 3D art or assets however don't let that stop you from getting excited about 3D AI: just like coding there are lots of useful things that no one would have made before and which are slop-tolerant
I am slowly and painfully learning Blender while working out office furniture for the new place

Putting this into the universe ✶ I'm looking to ghostwrite for Substack authors. My sweet spot is thoughtful writing on AI, creativity, internet culture, and the future of technology. A few samples: emilymanges.com/ DMs are open.
