NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman says the agency is helping investigate Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket explosion in May, while working to keep the Artemis program on schedule, arguing, “We can’t slow down.” “They’ve honed in already on a potential engine issue. They’re going to solve that,” Isaacman says. “They’re going to learn, they’re going to fix their engine, they’re going to rebuild their pad, they’re going to get back to launching rockets.”

The U.S. is “very much” in a space race with China right now, warning the Chinese program is “moving at incredible speeds,” NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman says. “The Chinese will land their taikonauts on the moon. There is no question,” Isaacman says. “The question is, will the United States return before them, and will we do so in a different way this time, will we build the base, establish an enduring presence? I think the answer is, yes.”

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman says maintaining an American presence in space is about more than exploration, arguing the benefits are both scientific and economic. “I’ll tell you, there will be a lunar economy someday, we’ll be mining asteroids at some point,” Isaacman says, adding, “We barely understand what's in our solar system, let alone… all the other galaxies out there.”
