dear America: happy Independence Day! since I was young, I’ve been deeply influenced by American culture, whether that’s music, arts, tech, or stories, it’s a place of endless inspirations and original ideas. the coolest part is when rational and delusional groups of people are united towards a common belief, that’s when great innovation happens. the American Dream is real! i was able to witness this myself: - a close friend of mine went from struggling with getting an internship to building his startup making > $100k a month all within a year. - an international founder I’ve spoken with a year ago brought his startup to a billion-dollar valuation within a year. we’ve heard stories from Steve Jobs, @elonmusk, @bchesky, @bhorowitz, Jensen Huang, the PayPal Mafia…etc, people who literally went from zero to one, having a strong belief in shaping a better and more exciting future for the humanity. for myself, America is a place where I made friends with genuinely interesting people, founded and led a tech club to 400 members, express freedom of speech (thank you Elon), and got into @fdotinc program to build my own startup with my close friends, onwards! it is a proof that everything has always been possible if you choose to believe. i am truly grateful for what America has given to the world: a place where thinkers and doers gather to explore and express ideas, freedom of speech, and creation in real life. America has given me opportunities that I wouldn’t get anywhere else. i have long believed in the American (or western) values of self-determination, risk-taking, and the belief that the future isn’t fixed but built by whoever shows up with conviction, which has been proven throughout history. lastly, i thank my family who’s risked everything to support me throughout my life. it’s time to build! god bless, happy 4th of July 🦅! Sincerely, Justin Liao

i just went a trip with someone who lives in the area where Mr. Gates and Mr. Bezos reside. my traditional, Asian dad casually asked me, “are you gonna get houses (> $8M) like this in the future to live in?” i said yes.

The best evidence that @NYCMayor Mamdani has not held a job is the fact that he is sitting on the wrong side of the desk. And listen to his words. On a day when we, and in particular, our leaders should be celebrating the 250 years of our nation’s history, he attacks us and what makes our country great. Mamdani and the Democratic Socialists are grave threats to our present and our future.
JUST IN: NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani used America’s 250th anniversary to sharply criticize the country, accusing the U.S. of allowing children to go hungry while billionaires and “oligarchs” gain more power. He said America’s wealth was built by working people with “calloused, dirt-streaked hands" while accusing the country of allowing the wealth built by workers to be concentrated in “the soft hands of a precious few.”

we must reunify.
most cultures have fallen, and I meant anything, everywhere. it can be seen in countries, startups, social media, schools, workplaces, designs, music, movies…etc. - degenerates and irrationality are being promoted everywhere. - people have become weaker and lazier, mentally and physically. - scams and deceit are becoming more common, aka manipulation of insecurities in consumer apps space. - the society has become more isolated and bi-polar. - most people are lost in this world. mindfulness has become more important than ever in this chaotic world. people gotta be more self-aware, rational, long-term, passionate, and adaptive. we must bring back integrity. the humanity must unite.

here’s the breakdown if you’re still confused, - avg whiteboard used by teacher is 24 sq ft - avg erase time for 30-50yo teacher ~30 sec - in average, a teacher erases ~4 times per teaching hour, which means ~2 min erasing per hour, 10 min per day (assuming 5 teaching hrs) - over 9 months or ~180 days = 30 hrs per year per teacher - at $45/hr teacher’s hourly salary, it saves ~$1.3k per teacher/yr. the avg high school has around 50 teachers so one school means $65k back in productivity. and there are around 23k high schools in the US, also it’s assuming each teacher has its own whiteboard. wait… i forgot we have projectors/smartboards in 2026.

Brian Armstrong (@brian_armstrong) explains why young people are falling to socialism: "Think about lower economic freedom countries—North Korea, Cuba, formerly Venezuela. These are not places where you would want to go." "There's a whole argument about suicidal empathy. If America's been so prosperous for so long, does it create some sense of guilt and people now want to give back or redistribute?" "If you look at it on the face, you'd say, 'It's unequal outcomes. That's not good.'" "If you take away that incentive and freedom for people to go build innovative things and try new ideas, you have a society that stagnates. And you have people who go into positions of power that become corrupted."
More Democrats now prefer Socialism to Capitalism

every startup launch video should study the first famous cartoon from Disney, Steamboat Willie (1928). this is the first cartoon with fully synchronized sound (music, dialogue, and sound effects), setting a new standard for how cartoons are made today. what makes it feel alive: - unexpected moments/hooks and sounds that flows into one story - creative exaggeration that makes sense in its fictional world (the sound design and animation) - high contrast visually (you know who's the main character and who isn't) most importantly, it makes the audience imagine beyond the film on what's possible by Disney. it's so refreshing to see this again in 2026.
