💰 Over TZS 16 Billion Paid to Communities as Tanzania's Ngualla Rare Earth Project Reaches a Major Milestone🇹🇿
A significant milestone has been achieved in Tanzania's mining sector with the completion of TZS 16 billion in compensation payments to 912 residents from Ngualla and Itundu villages, paving the way for the development of the Ngualla Rare Earth Project in Songwe Region.
This milestone reflects the Government of Tanzania's commitment, under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to ensuring that strategic investments are implemented while protecting the rights and livelihoods of affected communities through fair and timely compensation.
The Ngualla Project, developed by Mamba Minerals Corporation Limited, is expected to:
✅ Operate for approximately 28 years
✅ Create more than 5,000 employment opportunities for Tanzanians
✅ Strengthen local economies through business and supply chain opportunities
✅ Position Tanzania among Africa's leading producers of Rare Earth Elements (REEs)
The project will produce strategic minerals, including Neodymium and Praseodymium, which are critical components in the global clean energy transition. These minerals are widely used in permanent magnets, electric vehicles (EVs), wind turbines, and other advanced technologies that power the industries of the future.
As Tanzania continues implementing its Mineral Sector Vision, projects such as Ngualla demonstrate how responsible mining can generate shared value for communities, investors, and the nation while supporting global demand for critical minerals.
Tanzania is not only rich in mineral resources, it is building a sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive mining industry.
