🧠❤️ What if schools cared as much about a child's emotions as they do about marks?
Rajasthan is taking a remarkable step in that direction.
For thousands of young students, school will no longer be just about attendance, homework, marks, and exams.
It will also be about one simple but powerful question:
"How are you feeling today?" 🌱
🇮🇳 Rajasthan has become the first state in India to introduce a structured mental health and well-being programme for primary school students.
Called Khushishala, the initiative is being implemented by the Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research and Training (RSCERT) for children studying in Classes 1 to 5.
Its foundation is simple:
💙 A child who feels safe, heard, and emotionally secure learns better.
But the initiative doesn't stop with students.
👩🏫 Teachers are at the heart of the programme.
They undergo:
📚 A 3-day intensive training programme
🎧 A 21-day audio-based learning course
📖 Handbooks and mobile learning resources
The training helps teachers understand emotional well-being, stress management, healthy relationships, and ways to create supportive classrooms where every child feels valued.
And the results are already encouraging. 📈✨
The pilot programme, conducted in Sirohi and Banswara in 2024, reported:
✅ 53% improvement in students' socio-emotional skills.
✅ 69% improvement among girl students.
✅ Stronger teacher-student relationships.
✅ Reduced academic stress in classrooms.
Now, Rajasthan plans to train 11,305 more teachers and expand the programme to 649 PM SHRI schools.
If implemented as planned, more than 12,000 schools across the state will have at least one teacher trained to support children's mental well-being. 🌿
👏 This isn't just an education reform—it's an investment in happier, healthier, and more confident children.
Because success in life isn't measured only by report cards...
Sometimes, it begins with making sure every child knows they are seen, heard, and cared for. ❤️📚
