I pause to applaud the @CRANamibia leadership for their decision and firm stand on the subject matter.
So India has frozen approval for Starlink due to national security concerns. Starlink's security clearance remains pending until the company explains how, given its global operations and US ownership, it can ensure compliance with Indian security requirements during periods of geopolitical tension when foreign governments may issue conflicting demands. But we mustn't ask questions. La hlanya. aa.com.tr/en/asia-pacific/in…

Namibia recorded a sharp decline in cyber vulnerabilities and reported cyber threat events during the first quarter of 2026, but businesses, financial institutions and operators of critical infrastructure remain exposed to increasingly sophisticated ransomware attacks, according to the Namibia Cyber Security Incident Response Team (NAM-CSIRT). The latest Cybersecurity Constituent Newsletter, released by NAM-CSIRT under the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN), shows that detected cyber vulnerabilities fell 31.3%, while reported cyber threat events declined 47.3% between January and March 2026. The report attributes the improvement to stronger cybersecurity awareness, continuous network monitoring, proactive threat mitigation and better cyber hygiene among businesses, government institutions and critical infrastructure operators. Despite the encouraging trend, NAM-CSIRT warned that the country's cyber risk profile remains elevated as cybercriminals increasingly target organisations that hold sensitive data and provide essential services. thebrief.com.na/2026/07/cybe… #namibia #cyberattacks #networks #awareness #cyberthreats @CRANamibia @MICTNamibia

Namibia records sharp decline in cyber attacks Namibia recorded a 31.3% decline in detected cyber vulnerabilities and a 47.3% drop in reported cyber threat events during the first quarter of 2026, signalling improved cyber resilience even as ransomware groups continue to target critical infrastructure. The figures are contained in the Namibia Cyber Security Incident Response Team's (NAM-CSIRT) Cybersecurity Constituent Newsletter for the first quarter of 2026, released by the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN). According to the report, NAM-CSIRT detected 367,670 cyber vulnerabilities and 103,085 cyber threat events between January and March 2026, with the decline attributed to stronger cybersecurity awareness, continuous monitoring, proactive threat mitigation and improved cyber hygiene across organisations. Despite the improvement, the report warns that Namibia remains exposed to significant cyber risks, particularly through vulnerable remote management services and outdated network protocols. technews.com.na/2026/07/01/n… #namibia #cybersecurity #connectivity #attacks @CRANamibia @TechCrunch @TechCentral @MICTNamibia @sigstart @QBBT @rudolphmuller

If you call someone and hear music playing in the background while the phone is ringing, ask them where they got that song. Also ask whether they know they are paying for it.This is especially important for young people,as many may not realise they are being charged for caller tune

Replying to @TheNamibian
If you hear a song playing when calling a Namibian number(MTC), ask whether the owner actually subscribed. If customers are being charged N$1 per week without informed consent, this is a serious consumer protection issue. @CRANamibia must urgently investigate these practices.
