Happy 250th, America.
Above all else, today I’m remembering the bedrock principles of our young nation. What our founders fought for, what patriots have marched for and what our servicemembers have bled for time and time again:
The fundamental belief that all individuals are endowed with rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Not any one class of people or any one man. All of us.
Our nation has always been at its best when it’s fighting for every American’s freedom to build a better life, grow their livelihood and support their family. But 250 years later, our rights are being trampled on and the American Dream has gotten too far out of reach for too many Americans.
And so, on the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, the best way we can celebrate is going back to one of our founder’s first wishes for the future of this country. To never stop working to make America more perfect.
No matter how long it takes, no matter how hard the fight, no matter what.
