I hired a lady for a WordPress Developer role recently, and bro, she doesn't use plugins you buy from Envato and other platforms. She builds her own plugins and add-ons custom-made, to, in her words, "reduce how heavy the WordPress site gets." I thought it was a joke o. Simply incredible. Taken a lot of weight off my shoulders for that particular site. I should create a space soon and invite her to speak. There's a difference between "WordPress Developer" and "Plugin installer" oo. πŸ˜‚

Actually any company where you are in more meetings than executing will cripple your career. I have been saying it especially to design leads, ensure you are an IC and are actively designing or building. You need to stay close to the tools and not just coordinate, you need to preserve the very judgement and intuition that made you a leader in the first place.

Any company that is very big on PowerPoint presentations and plenty talks won't help your career. You'll feel productive for 5 years, then in the 6th year, realize you don't have any skills for the real world. A layoff at that point will be catastrophic.
