This 3-year-old American Staffy mix isn't aggressive. She's frightened, overwhelmed, and shutting down in the stressful shelter environment. Shelter staff describe Sasha approaching with a tucked tail and tense body, needing patience and reassurance every step of the way. She can be leashed with gentle encouragement, walks outside calmly, and appears to have good potty habits. During dog introductions, Sasha became overwhelmed and remained frozen in one spot, unable to relax. Veterinary staff report she has begun refusing food and water at times, showing signs of severe anxiety and fear-related shutdown.
