I met many independence supporters these last few days and want to thank you for what you do. You selflessly spend your time informing others, drive or fly across the province, set up events regardless of weather, endure insults and veiled threats, yet you continue. Why?
Wouldn't you rather be spending time with your family? Be watching that little league or soccer game? Be riding a horse, ATV or bike? Be hiking in the foothills, climbing one of our majestic mountains, camping at one of our gorgeous parks, boating in one of our beautiful lakes or rivers?
Most of us independence supporters are self-sufficient, established, make decent money and mostly older therefore not struggling as much as the younger generation. So why should you care?
I mean, I'm single with no children so why should I even care? Why would I care about others or the future of Alberta? Why would any of us?
I cannot answer with certainty why others support independence but I'm going to assume we have a commonality. I mean we must, right? What is that? What is this thing that unites independence supporters on such a vast scale?
This commonality we share is called SELFLESSNESS.
"Selflessness is the quality of prioritizing the needs, well-being, and interest of others above one's own. Often synonymous with altruism, it involves acting with empathy and compassion without expecting personal reward or recognition".
However there is a reward and it's called "independence". This reward can be celebrated by EVERYONE in Alberta and is a viable path to true prosperity.
Normally our vote doesn't matter out here but this time is different. Yes, this is a non-binding referendum but we have a unique opportunity to send Ottawa a clear message that's impossible to ignore.
Because the world is watching.
On Oct 19, choose option 2. Send that message. This vote matters.
