Lord knows we need more funding for #mentalhealth #familyviolence. People need drug rehab not jail! I have yet to hear anyone say how other states drop their homeless off in CA without financial assistance @TonyThurmond @XavierBecerra @katieporterca @TomSteyer @AVillaraigosa @ChadBianco @SteveHilton #Governorsdebate #cbscalifornia #votersdecide @NoBrokenHome

💔 53YO Lost Shelter Bed After Bus Was Late — Found Frozen to Death the Next Day 💔 53-year-old Moneque Cook, a Michigan native, had been struggling with homelessness for months, moving between shelters while trying to survive during one of the coldest winters of the year. On Monday night, a city bus delay caused her to arrive just 20 minutes late to the shelter where she was scheduled to sleep. Because of that delay, she lost her bed and was left with nowhere to go. With temperatures plunging well below freezing, Moneque was forced to sleep outdoors, exposed to the brutal cold overnight. The next morning, she was found unresponsive behind a dumpster in Mount Clemens and later pronounced dead after freezing to death. Her tragic death has sparked outrage and renewed conversations about how rigid shelter policies and transportation delays can have fatal consequences for unhoused people. In the wake of Moneque’s passing, Michigan officials are now considering changes to homelessness and shelter access policies to prevent another life from being lost this way. Prayers for all facing the brutal storm this weekend. Rest in peace, Moneque Cook — you deserved warmth, safety, and dignity. 💔

Howard University’s Dr. Stanley Andrisse went from prison to becoming the first formerly incarcerated Black man to earn tenure at a medical school. His story proves redemption is real, education changes lives, & people are more than their worst mistake. brnw.ch/21wXwlD

🚨 BREAKING: President Trump has just signed an executive order boosting support for foster children who age out of the system 47 had Melania sign it too, as she spearheaded this effort ❤️ “Each year, over 15,000 young people age out of the foster care system,” President Trump said. Around 50% of them end up homeless. This is part of the First Lady’s Fostering the Future initiative, which secures educational opportunities and scholarships for children in foster care.

Banning aid is backasswards, pushing hard-working people into #poverty, creating more costs. Why not focus on getting people to work, not on cruelty. #morallybankrupt #familiesfirst @AskaSingleMom

Her name is Dr. Shirley Jackson. Her work involved developing fiber optic cables, touch-tone telephones, caller ID, and call waiting. Some sources also credit her with the invention of the portable fax machine. 🎥 historyn3 #BlackWomen #BlackWomenInSTEM #BlackInventors
