We want to be transparent about how we protect your data, which is why we brought in Trail of Bits to review our code and assess whether our systems align with what we say publicly. It took time, but we wanted to get it right. Here's what they found: withpersona.com/blog/indepen…

Relay is now available in early access. If you're building something that needs to detect human presence, confirm age, or verify eligibility without the overhead of full identity collection, we'd love to work with you. Learn more: withpersona.com/blog/introdu…

Relay answers questions like “is this actually a real human?” and “is this person over 18?” without collecting the context around it. The organization gets the result, not the underlying identity data. Verification and application context stay fully separated.

Most verification systems were built to collect more than what's needed — and to tie identity directly to what a user is doing on a site. For a lot of everyday scenarios, that's more than what the situation calls for.

Here is our account of what had happened and our reflections on what we will change. The most important change we are going to make: > *Reviewing through a perception lens.* > We are adding a step to our security review process that explicitly evaluates not just "is this secure?" but "could this appear insecure to a reasonable external observer?" > Persona handles sensitive identity verification data. We owe it to our customers and their end users to hold ourselves to a standard that accounts for perception, not just technical risk. withpersona.com/blog/post-in…
