Today, we're live on @ycombinator. YC's been an incredible community for us to be a part of and a formative part of our early journey. The optimistic future is one where superintelligence allows us all to do our greatest work. We're here to empower that. See us in action and learn more: pentagon.run
Pentagon (@runpentagon) is a coordination layer for humans and agents. Agents are everywhere at work now - coding, researching, ops, even talking to customers. But they work alone, and humans become the middleware. Pentagon is how everyone communicates, coordinates, and works as one team. Congrats on the launch, @edgarpavlovsky! ycombinator.com/launches/QS1…

Enterprises are somewhere between [completely clueless] and [just starting to think about this] today We have years of industry overhaul in front of us as executives figure out that how their business runs is now something that can be codified, and is therefore a new type of IP
Every enterprise will have its own model-harness-sandbox-eval flywheel with token value per watt optimization. This is the future. Simple reason: tacit knowledge about the domain and customers and their workflows that the company uniquely understands and has built trust around.

Multiplayer AI is a deceptively intricate design problem It's easiest for single-threaded consumer use cases - "throw the agent in the group chat". In a professional context, shape of the problem changes: - Access: If an agent is in a channel, should everyone in the channel be able to interact with it to the same permission levels? (view / read / write) - Identity: If you and I talk to agent X in a channel, are they the same agent when they talk to each of us? - Tools: Do they have access to the same tool instances when they talk to each of us (if they can use gmail, who's gmail are they using?). There's no right answer - the config will be company, team, & problem dependent.
It’s mindblowing to me that LLMs are the fastest growing consumer product of all time …and the “multiplayer” experience (across every provider!) is basically just being able to share a chat history Someone is going to crack this and it’s going to unlock a LOT more usage

We've been cooking really hard on @runpentagon's multiplayer experience - I'm dying to start talking about it. Infrastructure. UX. The biggest upgrade might be a complete overhaul of our agent data model. It's multiplayer AI like I haven't seen anywhere else. Very soon!

the internal version of @runpentagon has reduce my app interaction surface from slack, linear, codex/claude, and the multitude of other apps I previously used to just pentagon the spatial layout has made it easier to manage multiple agents across different company verticals not to mention its a massive improvement in understanding how teammates are designing agent workflows reducing the time it takes to get processes off the ground

Sakana Fugu is an incredibly cool approach to frontier model intelligence that touches on a few things I think we'll see a lot of soon: 1) Composite ML model architectures aren't new, but we're just starting to explore them with LLMs. @OpenRouter's recent release and model routers fall into the same bucket. Fugu uses a composite approach to tackle absolute intelligence metrics, but composite architectures are just as useful when ROI on intelligence is the key metric (you usually don't need the most expensive model; it's important to know when you do or don't). 2) Architectures where models are swappable while maintaining performance will become much more common, especially with agentic workflows in industry. This is resilient to sovereign attacks (e.g., Fable), relevant to cost management, and nicely complements end-user companies in industry retaining their business processes as IP (I've been calling this Systems of Configuration). You don't want your company held hostage by a given model's ability to do something, or even the way a model likes to do something. 3) The RL conductor is a massive, massive opportunity: it looks more generic in the Fugu implementation, but I suspect we're going to see a lot of this "RL conductor" architecture with composite models and agentic pipelines. This is where IP is going to sit and where there's room to train task-specific models that generic agents from the Big Labs won't be able to trivially compete with - your conductor will learn (a) how to orchestrate the models (and tools, resources, etc) at its disposal (b) continuously evolve over time to adapt as task parameters and requirements evolve (we're shipping pipelines like this for partners at @runpentagon) So, so, so much design space in composition land
Human intelligence is fundamentally a collective intelligence. We solve complex problems by participating in a vast cultural network that builds upon ideas across generations. I believe the strongest AI systems will become a collective intelligence, too. Since we started Sakana AI, our core conviction has been that the most powerful AI systems will be collaborative ecosystems, not isolated monoliths. Evolution innovates under constraints, and the future belongs to systems that explicitly learn how to coordinate collective intelligence. Today, we are taking a major step toward that future with the launch of Sakana Fugu. Fugu dynamically orchestrates the world’s best models to tackle complex tasks. We are proving that a well-orchestrated pool of swappable agents can match restricted frontier models like Fable and Mythos. But Fugu is about more than just performance. I believe that Orchestration Models are the next frontier, beyond bigger models. Relying on a single company’s model for national infrastructure is a massive risk. As recent export controls have shown, access to top models can disappear overnight. Collective intelligence is the practical hedge against this concentration of power. Fugu simply routes around vendor restrictions by relying on an entirely swappable agent pool. I am incredibly proud of our Tokyo team for shipping this. By orchestrating the world’s models, we are delivering the resilient blueprint required for AI sovereignty. Read our full vision and results here: sakana.ai/fugu-release 🐡

Unfortunately like everyone else, we'll be removing Fable 5 from the models available in @runpentagon All other models continue to operate as normal!
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

Anthropic: 1) We're moving from giving agents tasks (using them like tools) to giving them responsibilities (thinking of them like teammates) 2) The apps we use in 2027 will look very different than the ones we use today @runpentagon
Today, we're introducing Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, two configurations of our next major language model. I'd normally highlight the numbers: It's SOTA on nearly all benchmarks. I want to talk about something else, because with Fable 5 out in the world, I think a third era quietly started today. I lead Claude Code & Cowork on the desktop, so I think a lot about how people use AI to get work done. I believe we're about to see a major shift, moving from giving AI tasks to giving it responsibilities.

I am growing (in more ways than one).
the [human] team is growing at @runpentagon, and we broke through to a new level of leveraging our company brain this week three really crazy things to consider in parallel: 1) the internal velocity feels insane 2) objectively i'd say we're probably utilizing it 20% at best - meaning there's another 5x from here to go as a baseline 3) this current step function was entirely do to breaking through with an organizational culture that drives adding to the knowledge base 100% by default. none of this is "better tech" - this part was all team culture. there's a lot of cool tech out there - sometimes it's the much more basic things that matter

when we first joined YC with @runpentagon, i had a good perception of the world’s greatest startup accelerator but was relatively neutral on what the experience would actually feel like. grateful to say that the camaraderie i've felt from the @ycombinator community these past few weeks has been standout and far above my expectation. i think my favorite part of it all is that, on the inside, it really is just a group of people that show up everyday with a love and dedication towards iterating on building something people want. as simple and played out as that sounds, empirically it still works and is the right answer towards how to build great companies. grateful, excited, and feeling nonstop.

I am becoming, tomorrow.
I've been working on something new, and tomorrow we get to start telling you more about it. Of all the things I've built, this feels by far the most ambitious. It's a company I didn't expect to start, in a year where everything about how you build is changing. It's also a problem that has absolutely gripped me by its opportunity, inevitability, and the depth of difficulty associated with getting it right. It's the first time I've felt genuinely early to something - exhilarating, terrifying, and a hell of a thing to wake up and tackle every morning. We're backed by @ycombinator and I owe a massive thank you to @t_blom, @kul, & the broader YC community for their guidance, support, and belief. I could (& probably will) write a lot more about how a startup community I already had a great impression of still managed to blow me away from the inside. We go live tomorrow - I'll see you there.
