In the age of AI, human ingenuity becomes even more valuable. The likes of @elonmusk @spacex, @nvidia, @anthropic, @OpenAI were founded in the U.S. for a reason. Over the years, I've met thousands of talented founders, engineers, and technologists, and many left everything familiar for the chance to build something new. So we sat down to hear their stories. America is rich with opportunity. Its founding insistence on self-rule, individual liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is why our nation has grown in economic, military, and cultural might from its founding moment 250 years ago. America’s manifest destiny is to grow and evolve. The nation that Lincoln fought to unite does not resemble the one we find today. The America of tomorrow will build upon this trajectory of expansion, hope, and independence. Despite our flag being the most common on the planet, we will add more stars to it. We will include more cultures and people under our tent. We will have more arguments and viewpoints and perspectives to integrate into some coherent, muscular whole. What unites Americans is the optimism and spirit of progress, the restlessness that comes from knowing we can always be better and do more. That growth takes energy, commitment, and triumphs big and small. Americans are winners because they’re competitors. They’re hardworking. They see the divine grace in a productive week, the charity that stems from generating good fortune rather than hoping for it. People come to this country TO WORK and to make their lives and communities richer for it. Our futures are built on nights and weekends—a feature, not a bug. The American project is one that will continue to unfurl and evolve well beyond our shores and into the heavens. Not because we wrote laws to bind our actions but because we wrote laws to unleash our creative forces. Honor today’s creators as we honor our founding fathers. Honor the service men and women who sacrifice to protect our way of life. Honor the system that protects our right to voice our individual truths, that they might serve this great republic and point us to its higher forms. Honor the simple reality that our nation is as deeply flawed as its citizenry and just as deeply capable to improve. America’s tale is eternally incomplete. What unites us is the chance to write the next chapter. May we earn another 250 years of the greatest story yet untold. God bless this country and our journey ahead. 🇺🇸

Proud for our team to contribute to this great story. @swyx didn't just make the leap, he drew the map for everyone making it after him. First Landing 01 👇
First Landing ep 01 with @swyx! Came from Singapore and a decade later, he's helped define the technical role of the century: the AI Engineer. Giving up the familiar to bet on something bigger has never been more rewarding His story 👇

In 2023, @swyx wrote an essay naming a job that didn't formally exist yet: the AI Engineer. And now it's one of the fastest-growing roles in tech. He came from Singapore, walked away from finance to teach himself to code, and spent a decade building in public. His @aiDotEngineer has thousands of attendees. Ep 1 of First Landing w @swyx.

When Anthropic was directed to cut foreign nationals off from its top models (Fable Mythos), frontier researchers started asking: how do I make my position here permanent? The good news: For many researchers, the EB-1A green card is well within reach. The last thing we want is for top researchers to leave the US when there is a permanent path available. So we turned what we've learned from thousands of applications into a free resource: The Researcher's Guide to the EB-1A. Share this guide with anyone in your network thinking about a green card. We want them to stay in the US 🇺🇸 And if you want a free personalized assessment, get in touch. Link in comments.

Proud of the team. We started Lighthouse to help builders make the leap. These films are about what they do after they land.
America has always had a particular pull on a particular kind of person. @spacex, @nvidia, @antrhopic @openai They’re built by those who can't stop thinking about a problem. The ones willing to leave somewhere comfortable to start from scratch. The ones who treat starting something new as a calling. The deal has always been the same: give up the familiar, gain the frontier.

We started @lighthousehq_ because we believed the world’s most exceptional builders deserve a faster, smarter, more human path to building in the U.S. We’ve supported thousands of builders from over 80 countries, all of whom gave up the familiar to build the frontier. To the extraordinary @swyx, @0interestrates, @atroyn, @sarakemppainen and more, we’re grateful to share your stories. Check it out and more coming soon. lighthousehq.com/first-landi…

I spoke with the technologists who made the leap. Almost every one of them came chasing something personal: a question they needed to answer, a problem they couldn’t stop thinking about, a version of themselves they could only become by trying. The building was how they became the best versions of who they wanted to be.

Incredible human @markiewagner who is also building an exceptional team!
Introducing @PoeticHQ: a new AI system that executes complex multi-hour tasks with 99% accuracy and 10x fewer tokens than agents. We raised $50M at $500M from Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, First Harmonic, and Genius Ventures to build AI that does complex work inside Fortune 500 companies without hallucination. While code is too brittle, agents are too unpredictable. The work that runs the global economy - anti-money laundering, fraud investigations, underwriting - needs extreme accuracy. So we built a new kind of software that pairs the flexibility of AI with the predictability of code. When the world stays the same, Poetic runs fixed code: fast, cheap, identical every time. When the world changes, Poetic uses AI to regenerate its approach and find its way back to the objective. In one year, we went from zero to an eight-figure run rate as a team of four. Since then, we’ve scaled the team and executed the highest-stakes processes at AIG, SoFi, and Chime. At SoFi, a large US bank, Poetic reached 99% quality on fraud investigations in five weeks.

Just pulling out this stat to highlight: “24% of US unicorns have a founder who first came to America as an international student.” People come to America because it’s the best place to build together. Let’s keep it that way.
This new research on US unicorn startups is really interesting. Some key facts from the report: 1. Immigrants founded or cofounded 455 of America’s 775 privately held billion-dollar startups, equal to 59% of all US unicorns. 2. 66% of all US unicorns were founded or cofounded by immigrants or the children of immigrants. 3. 79% of US unicorns have either an immigrant founder or an immigrant in a key leadership role. 4. The 455 immigrant-founded US unicorns have a combined valuation of $5 trillion. 5. That $5 trillion valuation is larger than the total stock-market value of companies listed in all but 7 countries. 6. Including immigrant-founded unicorns that went public since 2016 pushes the total value above $5.8 trillion. 7. The number of immigrant-founded US unicorns rose from 50 in 2018 to 455 in 2026. 8. 24% of US unicorns have a founder who first came to America as an international student.

Insane opportunity to have impact at @sfcompute and their customers
I'm hiring a very type-A person for a "deals" role. San Francisco Compute is frequently a deal company. These are large, multi-party agreements that take awhile to pull off but result in very large supercomputer getting built. We’re hiring for a role that designs & runs new deals. This is not a sales job. It’s closer to a product role. This is the role that creates new business models & new ways of working with our external partners. This role does involve talking directly to external participants, but you’re not trying to convince anyone of anything. This ideal person for this role is interested in understanding people’s incentives very deeply & coordinating lots of people to build something that works for all parties. These deals typically need someone to lead & stay on top of them until completion. They need someone who will make the deck, prep a memo, write & coordinate term sheets/LOIs, coordinate people throughout SFC & throughout the counterparties organizations. Sometimes they require someone to just get on a plane to make something happen. This role works directly with the CEO & COO. It’s likely one of the higher leverage roles at the company. This role requires you to be a hyper-organized, type-A person. You should be very good at setting expectations, pushing back, and having strict & clear boundaries. We expect to be professional & honorable when working with external parties. If this is you, I'd love to talk to you about it, my DMs are open!

tenacity that is a joy to celebrate. @daniel_dhawan can't wait to see you grow Rork and we're so proud to support you @lighthousehq_
My first 6 years as a startup founder: - Failed with 4 startups - Ran out of money multiple times & had $15K credit card debt - Was rejected by Y Combinator 8 times - Got 200 rejections from investors My last year as a startup founder: - Got into a16z @speedrun & raised $18M - Moved to SF & got O1 thanks to @tmhammer & @lighthousehq_ - Scaled Rork to #1 AI mobile app builder in the world The average journey to a $1B company takes 10 years. I’m on year 7. Keep building.
