There’s a silence in the life of a shepherd girl. A silence that either swallows you whole or builds a fierce, quiet desperation inside your eyes to see what lies beyond the mountain. Sitting here, surrounded by the gentle hum of livestock, felt like a quiet reunion with her.

When we started shooting, the team mentioned how this pasture felt like a constructed paradise. But my mind kept drifting back to Shaanxi—to the dust, the fierce winds, and a girl named Yi Qin’e who started her life looking at nothing but the backs of sheep.
