📈 Under the Labour Party, UK unemployment has reached the highest levels since the covid pandemic and young people have been disproportionately hit, with youth unemployment at its highest levels in over a decade - damaging their life chances.
Arbroath and Broughty Ferry is a prime example. Our area is known for the fantastic local businesses located here -creating good jobs in our community and benefiting Scotland’s economy as a whole. The National Insurance tax hike has been a hammer blow for these businesses, adding billions of pounds in extra costs, preventing growth and reducing vacancies.
🏴 With Westminster policies wiping billions of pounds from Scotland's economy, and causing unemployment and the cost of living to soar, it's clear Scotland needs the full powers of independence so we can build a stronger economy and a better future.

As the MP for Arbroath and Broughty Ferry, one of the first issues raised with me by a constituent was the future of our Coastguard Rescue Officers.
Our Coastguard Rescue Officers do far more than respond to maritime emergencies. They are increasingly supporting people in severe mental health distress and carrying out complex, lifesaving interventions.
They cannot simply be viewed as casual volunteers.
In coastal communities like Arbroath and Broughty Ferry, losing experienced Coastguard Rescue Officers would weaken the safety net that so many people rely on. The UK Government must listen to their concerns and consider the impact these changes could have on recruitment, retention and the resilience of our emergency response.

This second clip is about our community which is more than just its name. This constituency cannot be neatly defined by the names on the ballot paper. From Arbroath’s harbour to Broughty Ferry’s waterfront, from Carnoustie and Monifieth to Lunan Bay, Friockheim, Monikie, Murroes, Fintry, Whitfield, Douglas, Balmossie, Barry and Letham - and everywhere in between. This is a constituency of many identities but one shared purpose.
It is coastal and urban, rural and suburban, steeped in history but ambitious for its future. Above all, it is a place built on people who care deeply about where they live and about one another.
