Last week, two earthquakes hit Venezuela. The seismic event was the strongest in over a century, devastating thousands of people. In an emergency scenario such as this, connectivity can be lifesaving. Official information on where to find first aid, communication between family members, and real-time updates for emergency responders are all critical. That’s why our community is working to reestablish connectivity in Venezuela to support emergency operations. Read more ⬇️ internetsociety.org/blog/202…

Our Mongolia Chapter (@IsocMongol2o25) is supporting improved connectivity in schools through a powerful train-the-trainers model. This effort began in April 2026, equipping teachers and chapter members with the skills to design, deploy, and maintain reliable school networks while also strengthening their ability to train others in their communities. The 30 trained participants will each support new cohorts of teachers throughout the year, expanding the program’s reach across the education system. This initiative, which we support, helps build long-term capacity to sustain school connectivity.🌐

An Internet exchange point (IXP) can only be truly successful if it is sustainable, actively managed, and continuously evolving. In other words, if it’s not a zombie. Zombie IXPs run on autopilot, with little planning, investment, or new peers. But they don’t all look the same, and can emerge from different governance models and challenges. Hear from Russell Bean, our IXP development expert, on some of the most common types of zombie IXPs, their symptoms, and how to treat them ⬇️ internetsociety.org/blog/202…
