God calls every follower of Jesus to share the good news about Him with others, and He gives real strength to keep going even when people push back.
A pastor in Washington recently lived this out while reading Scripture at public events in Seattle.
He wanted to tell people about Jesus by reading from the Gospel of John.
As crowds grew, some became hostile.
They grabbed his Bible and tore out pages.
He found another Bible and kept reading.
Things turned physical when some picked him up, carried him down the street, and dropped him on the pavement.
Police arrested him twice during these incidents.
This kind of opposition is not new for those who follow Christ.
Jesus Himself told His followers what to expect.
In John 15:18, He said, "If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you."
The pastor did not stop sharing, and with help from his legal team, the case ended in a clear win that protects the right to speak about faith peacefully in public spaces.
For us, stories like this are a gentle reminder to pray for every person who steps out to read Scripture and tell others about Jesus.
We can ask God to give them wisdom, courage, and safety.
We can also ask Him to help us look for simple, everyday ways to share the hope we have in Christ with the people around us.
The Bible gives us this promise in Isaiah 55:11.
God says His Word will not return empty.
It will accomplish what He wants and succeed in the purpose for which He sent it.
We can trust that truth and keep sharing with grace and love, no matter what response we meet.
