AITA for banning my sister from my house after she posted my autistic son’s meltdown on TikTok for clout?
I (34F) have a 5-year-old son on the spectrum. Meltdowns are tough, but we manage them privately as a family. Last weekend my sister (31F) was visiting and my son had a bad one in the living room; screaming, stimming, the works.
Instead of helping, she secretly filmed it, posted it on TikTok with the caption “When autism parents say it’s not that bad
#autismawareness #momlife” and used trending sounds. It hit 1.2 million views overnight. Strangers are commenting the most vile things about my parenting and my child.
When I demanded she delete it, she refused, saying it’s “raising awareness” and I’m too sensitive. She even pinned it. I told her she’s no longer welcome in our home and blocked her. Now my parents are furious, calling me selfish for “punishing family for trying to help” and saying I’m isolating my son from his aunt.
My husband is 100% with me, but the rest of the family is blowing up my phone. AITA?
AITA for calling off my engagement after my fiancé proposed with his ex’s ring?
I (26F) had been dropping hints about getting engaged for months. Last weekend my boyfriend (28M) took me to the exact same beach where we had our first date and got down on one knee with a beautiful vintage sapphire ring.
I said yes immediately. Later that night, while he was in the shower, I looked up the ring on his phone (we know each other’s passwords). It was a custom piece he bought for his ex-girlfriend two years ago. She said no, so he kept it “just in case.”
When I confronted him, he got defensive: “It’s a nice ring and I didn’t want it to go to waste. You’re overreacting.” His mom even texted me that “a ring is just a ring” and I should be grateful he’s willing to settle down.
I gave the ring back, packed my stuff, and called off the wedding we had already started planning. Now everyone is saying I’m shallow, dramatic, and throwing away a good man over “sentimental details.” My own mother thinks I should forgive him.
I can’t stop picturing him offering that same ring to someone else. AITA?
