NDC better meet IGEC deadlines and not rely on that high court judgement!
I have said it before, politics is not always about emotions, loyalty or even ideology. Sometimes, it is simply about survival, calculation and timing. And if there is one political platform that may become the biggest beneficiary of Justice Umar's judgement against INEC closing political transfer windows, it will most likely be NDC and every other party yet to officially conduct their primary elections. In the coming days, do not be surprised when you notice NDC deliberately slowing down the pace of their primary elections. That move will not be accidental. It will be strategic. Their party register will again be officially thrown open for aggrieved politicians who feel betrayed, cheated and abandoned by their various parties after years of loyalty and sacrifice. Outside the sole candidacy arrangement they have already settled with having Obi as their flag bearer, NDC will begin massive underground movements across the country, quietly recruiting active political hands who will be fighting for their legislative tickets nationwide. They understand one thing clearly: angry politicians are the easiest people to recruit during moments like this. Their message will be simply be emotional and dangerously convincing: “I know you are angry that they didn’t give you tickets in your party after all your loyalty, but I want you to understand that your enemy is my enemy and together we can fight beside each other to achieve a common goal.” That sermon will enter many ears. And the truth is that many politicians are going to buy into that idea, not necessarily because they suddenly care about a better country or a brighter future, but because staying out of power for four solid years is a risk many political players simply cannot afford to take. This is why the coming political season may become one of the most brut@l political battles Nigeria has witnessed in recent times. The alignments will be shocking. Friendships will collapse overnight. Loyalists will suddenly become rebels. And politicians who once swore eternal allegiance to their parties may defect without looking back. It will not just be politics. It will be a w@r of survival. A game that demands a fight to finish. I am Ekene Aninze Esq.

🫁📘 GINA 2026 is not just an update. It reflects a continued strategic shift in modern asthma care. The new Global Initiative for Asthma report reinforces a central message: Asthma management is moving further away from “bronchodilator centered medicine” and toward: ✅ anti inflammatory reliever strategies ✅ exacerbation prevention ✅ precision phenotyping ✅ corticosteroid stewardship ✅ patient centered longitudinal control ⚠️ Perhaps the most clinically important update in GINA 2026 The management of acute asthma exacerbations has been substantially redesigned. It represents an attempt to standardize severity assessment, oxygen use, bronchodilator dosing, reassessment, discharge planning and follow up. A very ICU and emergency medicine oriented evolution. 🫀 Major paradigm shift: oxygen therapy One of the most striking changes: GINA lowered oxygen thresholds. Supplemental oxygen is now: ❌ NOT routinely recommended unless SpO₂ <92% And for adults/adolescents: 🎯 target saturation is now capped at 95% This reflects growing recognition that: “More oxygen” is not always benign physiology. 💨 SABA toxicity is finally receiving the attention it deserves GINA 2026 strongly warns about: ⚠️ beta agonist over treatment ⚠️ lactic acidosis ⚠️ compensatory hyperventilation misinterpreted as worsening asthma 🔥 Anti inflammatory reliever therapy continues to dominate the strategy GINA Track 1 with ICS formoterol remains the preferred approach. But one of the most interesting additions is: ➡️ ICS-SABA AIR therapy now enters Track 2. This is important because it further weakens the historical concept of: “SABA alone rescue therapy.” The anti inflammatory component is becoming central even during rescue treatment. 🧬 Precision asthma medicine keeps expanding GINA 2026 further strengthens the biologic era. New additions include: • depemokimab • biosimilar anti IgE therapy (omalizumab igec) And importantly: GINA now provides clearer biologic selection guidance based on: ✅ phenotype ✅ Type 2 biomarkers ✅ comorbidities ✅ administration route ✅ patient preference ✅ payer eligibility This is increasingly precision respiratory medicine rather than “asthma as one disease.” 📊 New assessment tools are also notable GINA introduces: • CAAT • Peds-AIRQ • stronger PRAM integration The emphasis is moving toward: 📈 multidimensional disease burden assessment rather than symptom counting alone. 🧠 My main takeaway from GINA 2026 Asthma management is increasingly focused on: preventing inflammatory instability early rather than repeatedly rescuing physiological collapse later. That philosophical change may be the most important update of all. 📖 Reference Global Initiative for Asthma. (2026). Global strategy for asthma management and prevention: 2026 update. ginasthma.org

Biologics have advanced our ability to manage severe allergic diseases and asthma, but accessibility remains a challenge. In March 2025 the Food and Drug Administration approved omalizumab-igec, the first biosimilar for omalizumab. Learn more. bit.ly/4d8ikl2
