🚢🇯🇵 $TSLA is landing in force in Japan — and the numbers are screaming. May 2026: 182% YoY with 1,996 registrations. June: all-time record 283% YoY with 3,997 registrations. First-half 2026 already ~12,200 vehicles — beating all of 2025’s ~10,600. On pace for 24k this year if the trend holds. Model Y just became Japan’s #1 imported car model. The new Model Y L (6-seat) is also a hit with buyers who might otherwise have chosen a Toyota Alphard, Honda Odyssey, or Nissan minivan hybrid. Japan is one of the toughest markets on Earth for EVs — hybrids still dominate and EV share sits under 3%. Yet Tesla is climbing fast among imports (now 4th overall) by expanding stores, service centers, and pairing national local incentives with 0% financing that makes Model Y/Y L shockingly affordable. Huge incentives sweeten the deal: National CEV subsidy up to ~¥1.27M (~$8,100 USD). Tokyo residents can stack local ZEV incentives add-ons (V2H, solar) for up to ~¥2.37M total (~$14,700 USD), slashing Model Y prices nearly in half. If even a slice of Japan’s famously loyal hybrid buyers are switching (or at least seriously considering) Tesla for the tech, performance, efficiency, and now family space… the future looks very bright. ⚡ The boatloads are just getting started.

To be honest, none of us expected what we found. After making enquiries, the price came back at 2.1 million. Yes, 2.1 million for just the ABS computer. For context, that same amount can buy you a: Toyota Camry "Pencil" Honda Accord EOD Toyota Corolla "Okerejuowo e lo" Moments like this remind us that buying a car is only the beginning. Maintaining it is the real commitment. This isn't to discourage anyone from owning a luxury car. They're amazing vehicles. But before you buy one, it's worth asking yourself a few important questions: Can I comfortably maintain it? How much do the major spare parts cost? If something unexpected happens, am I financially prepared? The purchase price gets you the car. The maintenance cost determines how long you’re keeping it and whether you'll truly enjoy owning it.
