The Centre for Education Policy and Climate Justice (CEPCJ) successfully convened a workshop on Advancing Decent Work in the Agri-Food Sector, bringing together participants from Nyandarua County. This workshop is part of the Cultivating Justice Project implemented in partnership with
@pamoja_trust and
@DCA_Kenya ,and funded by the
@EUinKenya and The Ministry of Foreign affairs of Denmark
@DanishMFA .
The workshop created a collaborative platform for participants to deepen their understanding of the four pillars of Decent Work—Job Creation, Rights at Work, Social Protection, and Social Dialogue. Through interactive discussions and participatory learning, participants identified key workplace challenges and explored practical, rights-based solutions to improve working conditions and uphold workers’ rights.
Participants also examined key legal and policy frameworks that promote decent work, including the Constitution of Kenya, the Employment Act, and the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), while discussing strategies to strengthen workplace compliance, accountability, and responsible business conduct.
Beyond knowledge sharing, the workshop equipped participants with practical skills to advocate for decent work, monitor workplace standards, address labour-related challenges, and foster meaningful partnerships through networking and collaboration.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all participants, partners, and stakeholders whose commitment and contributions made this engagement a success. Together, we continue advancing fair, safe, and dignified work for all
