After those 2026 new cases were discovered, I figured I'd do another sweep of the open cases. Some decent progress. A column was added to the spreadsheet called "Latest Status" with a brief note on the most recent filing for the open cases.
Just a note, these cases do "not" need to be finalized, as noted in the Plan of ReOrganization which described that certain cases could remain open and unresolved following emergence.
Also, don't forget Jake2b & Sal's discussion on the New Value Doctrine. In case anyone forgot, this is the definition.
"The new value doctrine is a legal principle in bankruptcy law that allows a debtor's owner to retain an interest in a business or property during a Chapter 11 reorganization, even if all senior creditors are not fully paid, provided that the owner contributes new value to the estate. This exception to the absolute priority rule is intended to encourage investment and support for the business during its restructuring process."
All rise for Judge Pappy. Keeper of Justice.
Just remember, nobody knows when, if, or how much, the PlanMan is still cooking, so let him cook.
