Condor is not ruling out prospective buyers from the Gulf region in its search for a new owner. Lufthansa is not an option as a buyer for antitrust reasons. Condor CEO Peter Gerber: "Of course you do not have to be a prophet to say that Condor will probably end up plugging into a larger conglomerate." Peter Gerber named possible candidates airlines such as Emirates, Etihad or Qatar Airways, among others. CEO Peter Gerber: "These are also strong players that, after the experience with the U.S. in the Iran war, may want to make themselves less dependent on their home market and could also be open to partners from other regions." Condor is 49% state-owned, with this stake held by a state development bank on behalf of the German federal government and the state of Hesse. The state acquired this share following a government-backed rescue and restructuring loan issued to save the airline after the 2019 collapse of its former parent company, Thomas Cook. #airlines #aviation #acquisition

EasyJet has agreed in principle to a takeover offer of more than £5 billion from Castlelake LP. Castlelake’s offer of £6.90 per share in cash gives the airline an equity value of £5.2 billion ($6.9 billion). The valuation increases to £5.5 billion on a fully diluted basis, according to an EasyJet spokesperson. The bid was Castlelake’s fifth, with EasyJet calling the previous proposals “highly opportunistic” and saying the US investment firm was trying to buy the airline “on the cheap.” The Minneapolis-based investment firm had stated on May 29 that it was in early stages of evaluating a potential bid, and has not approached easyJet's board. However, on June 1, Castlelake disclosed it already holds 16,241,494 ordinary shares of easyJet, roughly 2.14% of the airline's issued ordinary share capital, and said any offer would be valued at no less than 403.23 pence per share. #airlines

ATC Communication: A Delta Air Lines A319 aircraft operating flight 1076 was reportedly hit by a firework while landing at Chicago’s Midway International Airport on Saturday, the Fourth of July (just before 8:40 p.m. Central). Delta Air Lines Flight 1076, which was flying from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, was descending toward the runway at Chicago's Midway International Airport when the aircraft came into contact with a firework display, taking place at that moment. Cockpit reported, "Control tower, a firework display has just hit our plane, Delta flight 1076. We are continuing our flight." "Heard a loud bang on board". "We will have to examine the aircraft once we arrive at the boarding gate. We just hope it was just a mortar that exploded underneath, but we clearly felt a loud bang." However, the pilots did not require an emergency landing, and the aircraft was able to land in Chicago without difficulty. This Saturday, July 4, the United States celebrated the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia. #aviation #safety #aircraft

Pilot Enrique Piñeyro was clearly unhappy before a humanitarian flight to Venezuela on 03 July. According to the Argentine pilot, an oil company denied him fuel for the operation for political reasons. From the cockpit of his Boeing 787, Piñeyro asserted that the plane was “ready to take off” in the early morning hours. However, an executive from Raizen , the parent company of Shell Argentina, allegedly denied him the supply of more than 50 tons of aviation fuel needed to deliver aid to the Caribbean nation. Shell's response "Venezuela is included in the list of destinations subject to specific international trade controls under current international regulations. To fuel the aircraft with humanitarian aid, we complied with the management of necessary approvals to meet the regulations. We did it as quickly as possible." "We carried out the fueling starting at 10:14 a.m. once all necessary processes were completed." #flight

The biggest challenge in this design was the "fuselage color." To overcome the challenges of carbon fiber fuselages and aviation regulations, Starlux Airlines, Airbus, and paint brand Mankiewicz spent months developing a high-concentration special mica and a multi-layer coating process to break through the limitations of traditional painting, perfectly reproducing the cool, liquid metallic texture of Sorayama's work, and achieving an artistic crystallization of the ultimate pursuit of craftsmanship while ensuring flight safety. #aircraft #livery

After the reports of five Boeing 777 aircraft were transferred to Iran’s Mahan Air, Saudi Arabian Airlines has clarified that it had previously sold the aircraft in question on 7/6/2023 to another company registered outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in accordance with the commercial and legal frameworks, and has no relation with those planes operationally or commercially. Previously reported in sections of media: Five used Boeing 777-268ER widebody planes of ex- Saudi Arabian Airlines have been delivered to Iran's Mahan Air via a complex third-country deal. According to sources, two of the aircraft have been confirmed at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport, with the full set of five now integrated into Mahan Air’s fleet. This latest development is here after earlier acquisitions, including five ex-Singapore Airlines 777-200ERs in 2025, as the sanctioned Iranian carrier expand its long-haul capabilities amid a ban on acquiring Western-built aircraft. #airlines #aircraft

Amnesty International Indonesia has described the shooting of American pilot Nicholas F. Goselin in Yahukimo, Papua, by the TPNPB as a tragic human rights violation. In 2023, rebels kidnapped a New Zealand pilot and freed him in September, 2024. TPNPB spokesman Sebby Sambom said they would conduct further attacks if civilian aircraft continued supporting Indonesian military.
A separatist group in Indonesia’s Papua region say they shot and killed an American pilot and burned his Pilatus PC‑6 after it landed at the remote Ipedehik airfield in Yahukimo. The Pilatus PC-6/B2-H4 Turbo-Porter aircraft (PK-RCY) landed at Ipdeheik Airport in Balinggama Village, Sobaham District, Yahukimo Regency, Highland Papua, Indonesia, at approximately 09:15 WIT on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Indonesian authorities later found the aircraft destroyed. The rebels claim the plane violated their ban on civilian flights and was carrying military personnel. #aircraft #pilotlife
