She says she managed the shift between them by taking each project day by day, trusting her preparation, and staying present. Sports Illustrated gave her a space to embrace individuality and self-acceptance, while The Beauty placed her inside a character shaped by the pressure to meet an unrealistic ideal. John Lawrence Sullivan SS27 Explores Androgyny Through Tension and Restraint - See more here: designscene.net/2026/07/john… #JohnLawrenceSullivan by #ArashiYanagawa presents Spring Summer 2027 with Androgyny, a collection built around the body as a site of contradiction. Shown in Berlin, the season examines strength and fragility, beauty and ugliness, discipline and impulse, reason and desire, liberation and restraint, masculinity and femininity. Rather than treating these forces as opposites, Yanagawa brings them into the same frame, using clothing to hold tension instead of resolving it. Fruché SS27 Reclaims Imperfection With KLEG - See more here: designscene.net/2026/07/fruc… For SS27, #Fruché presents KLEG, a collection that turns body image, self-perception, and human difference into its central language. The title comes from Nigerian Pidgin, where “K-leg” refers to knock knees, while also describing something considered dysfunctional or “not quite right.” Fruché takes that everyday phrase and redirects it, using it as a starting point for a collection that treats imperfection as identity, memory, and beauty. GmbH Winter-Spring 2027 Returns to Berlin’s Lost Fashion History - See more here: designscene.net/2026/07/gmbh… #GmbH marks its tenth anniversary with Intervention VI, a Winter Spring 2027 collection presented during #BerlinFashionWeek that looks back in order to move forward. Founded in 2016 by Serhat Isik and Benjamin A. Huseby, the brand began as a way to tell stories through clothing, identity, community, and resistance. This season, that impulse turns toward Berlin itself, and toward a fashion history that remains largely absent from the wider narrative of European design. In this week’s DORIC ORDER, Katarina reflects on the expectations placed on women who refuse to disappear. Using #Madonna as a lens, she examines why aging, outspoken women continue to provoke discomfortnot because they seek attention, but because they refuse to surrender it. In a culture that celebrates reinvention only when it comes with restraint, Madonna's refusal to quiet down remains her most radical act. Doric explores how celebrity, feminism, and public scrutiny collide, arguing that women are too often expected to age gracefully by becoming smaller, quieter, and less visible and why rejecting that script is still perceived as a threat. "There is something almost touching about the persistence of the Madonna complaint. The words change, but the desire underneath them does not. Too sexual. Too ambitious. Too Catholic. Too muscular. Too young. Too old. Too artificial. Too exposed. Too much. For more than forty years, people have been trying to locate the exact point at which Madonna should stop being Madonna."
