Great Point One thing that doesn't get enough attention with Amendment 5 is how geography could affect state revenue. We all know where Missouri's largest cities are, and it's not hard to imagine many people in those areas simply crossing state lines to make their purchases. Those of us in rural and central Missouri won't have that same option, either because of time, distance, or cost. And if the state comes up short on revenue, the legislature would have complete authority to raise taxes or expand the tax base to make up the difference. Basically, Amendment 5 asks rural and central Missouri to carry more of the load while giving politicians in Jeff City, with no doubt some input from their donors, control over who, what, and how much is taxed. Vote NO on Amendment 5.
