We are onsite in New Jersey today troubleshooting a dark fiber in our metro network. After weeks of back and forth between datacenter and fiber vendor, we finally just got on a plane to fix it ourselves. Glad we pay huge setup and MRC to datacenters for damaged patch cords.

Sometimes picking a single infrastructure provider who truly designs for diversity including multiple buildings for compute, diverse fiber paths, diverse carriers and so on gives you a much more diverse service than picking two independent providers with the false hope that all of those things are diverse.
