This is the problem with identity politics. It never stops. It doesnāt bring people together; it atomises society into an ever-growing number of identities, each demanding its own protections, laws and shielding from words that may offend, whether those words are grounded in reality or not doesnāt seem to matter.
This is where the left has lost its way. It used to be the party of the have-nots. It used to be the party that fought to create jobs, opportunity and purpose for people left behind by a system that too often rewards privilege and advantage.
Instead, itās disappeared down an identity politics rabbit hole that risks destroying its electability yet again and handing power to the very people the Labour Party was founded to oppose.
