I am angry. In Busuma, 54,000 refugees, mostly women and children, are surviving with too little food, water & shelter. They are not able to meet their basic needs. The capacity to fix this exists. What’s missing is the will. That is unacceptable, and it is on all of us.

A UNHCR truck was hit by a drone in Sudan for the second time this year. The driver escaped. But 50 tonnes of lifesaving aid – blankets, sleeping mats, solar lamps meant for displaced families is destroyed. Humanitarians are not a target. Humanitarian aid is not a target.

Overnight attacks in Kyiv killed & injured civilians, incl. children & damaged residential buildings & infrastructure. UNHCR w/ partners are on the ground, providing emergency shelter materials, psychosocial & legal aid to families. We continue to stand with those affected in 🇺🇦.

As conflict continues in Myanmar, safe return remains out of reach for nearly 1.2 million Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, funding cuts are threatening critical services in the camps. The world cannot look away from this crisis.

What does welcoming refugees look like? Nigeria shows us. Roads built. Farms irrigated. Clinics strengthened. Not just for refugees, but for entire communities. Real inclusion means investing in shared solutions that create dignity, opportunity and self-reliance for all.

My last day in Rwanda reinforced one message: the solutions are here. I met refugee farmers, young coders and resilient families proving what's possible when opportunity replaces dependency. Rwanda’s model of inclusion is delivering results. Now it needs investment.

Protection is more than delivering assistance. In Ancuabe, UNHCR and partners continued providing psychosocial support, identifying people with specific needs, strengthening accountability and raising awareness on GBV, ensuring protection remains at the centre of the response.

Nehmat, a displaced Lebanese woman, holds up a photo of her destroyed home: "It was bombed, and now there is nothing left." Some families are returning to their villages, but the scale of the destruction means that for many others displacement continues.
