I love the way the production of 89-91 AJPW looked before they pumped the brakes (Arena lights on, tight shots, elaborate entrance lighting) Allegedly Baba refused to compete with the production budget of NJPW, instead taking the minimalist “focus on the wrestling” approach

Most popular midcard wrestling acts don't "deserve" to be the lead attraction just because they get a crowd reaction. You're supposed to get a reaction! The smart ones don't even want it. It's a losing hand for all but a few. It's a totally different role and skillset.

You’re not wrong! They do watch just to complain. However, there is a huge chunk of fans that watch the products just to stay up to date to laugh along with Cornette. I see it as similar to botchamania. For better or worse, they’re still very relevant 🤷‍♂️

If you complain about current wrestling that match, just don’t watch, but his complaints gets views because most of the current IWC like to complain about products they don’t watch and simply get clips from socials and act like they’re the demo. These have MNW thoughts still.

To be fair Basil, there’s not an Indy company on earth that comes close to doing Cornette’s YouTube & Podcast numbers. I’m not saying anyone has to agree with him, but his numbers alone prove that he’s quite relevant and the nostalgia market is very strong.

Just remember, people like Russo, Disco, and Cornette only bitch about current wrestling they’re because they’re not relevant nor will be again and they hope you retweet their YouTube shows/podcasts/tweets to gain money from you. They grasping hard and you’re letting them.

It was on crazy max but don’t remember the name I had on there. We met at one of the Far North shows your dad did. I used to ride down with Brodie and some Rochester guys back in 05/06 ish I think.

The Post ECW “Tape Trade Indies” were a time and a place! Pre-ROH had a vibe to it that’s hard to describe. These guys had an underground following that made everything feel so special! DHS, Low Ki, SAT, Homocide, Punk & Cabana, Daniels etc. I LOVED it!
