This is a take, I actually quite agree with.
When I know there's no turning the fight around, the players have definitely won. I just drop the monsters hit points to be down to one so that it can be over.
When there's multiple creatures remaining, if they're smart enough, I have them run away if not same thinf 1hp for all so its over quick
The worst part of D&D combat is what I call the mop-up phase.
That's when everyone already knows the heroes have won, but you still spend 20 minutes chewing through the monsters' last few hit points.
STOP ROLLING DICE.
Instead, end the fight narratively, and let the players describe how they finish off the remaining enemies.
Faster combat. Better endings.
