84-year old retired priest Sue Parfitt has been repeatedly arrested for breaking counter-terror law by holding signs to protest the proscription of Palestine Action. Today, she went further than ever before, vocally expressing support for the group, and encouraging the police arresting her to join her in that support. She was arrested under section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000, a criminal offence that carries a sentence of up to 14-years. She told Novara Media why she’ll continue to break the law.

Israeli cabinet refuses to recognize Supreme Court ruling on media regulator —— The Israeli government has voted to reject a Supreme Court ruling allowing the country's broadcast regulator to continue operating despite lacking the legally required number of members, marking the first time Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet has openly refused to comply with a decision by the country's highest court. Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi and Justice Minister Yariv Levin argued that the regulator has no legal authority until its membership is restored, insisting that any decisions it makes—including those affecting major television networks—will be considered "null and void." The cabinet accused the Supreme Court of overstepping its authority and vowed to use "all legal means" to overturn the ruling. The move has intensified warnings of a constitutional crisis, reviving tensions over Netanyahu's long-running campaign to curb judicial power. Opposition figures, including Yair Lapid, Naftali Bennett, and Gadi Eisenkot, accused the government of undermining Israel's democratic institutions, while President Isaac Herzog warned that refusing to obey court rulings crosses a "red line" and threatens national unity.

If Zelensky keeps escalating the glorification of his "bloody heroes," more and more Poles will want to pull the plug on aid to Ukraine. Putin couldn't have scripted a better public relations campaign himself 😅 ------ A new nationwide poll conducted by Ariadna for o2.pl shows that Poles are deeply divided over continued support for Ukraine. 32% believe Poland should reduce its aid, another 32% say the current level is appropriate, while 20% think Poland should end assistance altogether. Only 6% support increasing aid, and 10% are undecided.

"🚨URGENT: Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya’s life is in immediate danger, Physicians for Human Rights Israel and his lawyer warned Saturday, after a prison visit revealed the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital bearing fresh, severe injuries to his head, eyes, ears, and neck, so disfigured his own attorney initially struggled to recognize him. 🔹Attorney Nasser Odeh, who saw Abu Safiya Thursday at the underground Rakefet interrogation facility in Nitzan Prison, said he arrived shackled hand and foot, escorted by masked guards, struggling to breathe and speak, unable to sit upright, and repeatedly on the verge of losing consciousness. 🔹Abu Safiya told him that after his Supreme Court appeal was heard June 10, four or five guards entered his solitary cell at Ganot Prison and beat him with a hammer and batons, and that since his June 24 transfer to Rakefet he has been beaten daily, losing consciousness several times without receiving medical treatment. 🔹“This is the last time you will see me,” he told his lawyer. “They brought me here to kill me. I don’t see myself surviving. This is the end.” 🔹PHRI notes the escalation in torture began directly after Abu Safiya challenged his detention in court. He has been held without charge since December 27, 2024, under Israel’s Unlawful Combatants Law. 🔹The group has appealed to Israel’s attorney general and prison service demanding his immediate transfer, an independent medical examination, and an urgent judicial visit “before it is too late.” x.com/DropSiteNews/status/20…
This is heartbreaking. "Dr. Hossam’s lawyer warns: his heart is exhausted, his body shattered from continuous torture, and the freezing temperatures in his cell are worsening his suffering. Between cold walls, the doctor who saved hundreds of children and the wounded is left with no adequate food, no heating, and his health is deteriorating day by day. 🔴 Every moment of silence is a contribution to his suffering. Any delay in saving him could be the moment that costs him his life. ✊🏻 Speak about him… spread his name… do not let the voice of the doctor who saved lives fade away." x.com/Abdullah_Om3r03/status…

The EUSSR strikes again. As @RnaudBertrand absolutely correctly points out, this is the final death of freedom of expression and freedom of journalism in the EU. Worst thing is, we can‘t even be sure if it‘s only sharing the actual videos/articles that will put you in prison, or if, more generally, all INFORMATION that is contained in such pieces also counts as an offense…. Are we still allowed to talk about things that RT also talks about? Or is that it, your off to a Brussels Gulag?
This is properly insane: quite literally the worst example of censorship I've ever heard of anywhere. I checked the actual ruling (which you can see here: courthousenews.com/wp-conten…) and, to be clear, it isn't just censorship in the conventional sense - blocking access to a website or removing content from platforms - this is the criminalization of information relayed by private citizens, with prison sentences attached. And the most insane aspect if that it does NOT matter if the information relayed is accurate or not. It just matters that it originates from RT or other media outlets banned in the EU. In other words, truth isn't a defense anymore in the EU, it literally doesn't matter. It's purely based on the identity of the speaker. The ruling is actually explicit about this: the regulation, quoted by the Court says that the prohibition applies to "any content," and they draw no distinction based on what the content actually says. If it originates from banned outlets, it's banned. It is, quite simply, a complete unraveling of the entire post-Enlightenment legal and philosophical project where entire generations of Europeans fought to move from "who says it" to "is it true" as the operative question. Think about the absurdity of it: if RT publishes a video saying the sky is blue and you share it on a publicly accessible website in the EU, you'd fall within the scope of this ruling, making you liable to criminal prosecution. Completely and utterly absurd. But that's the EU today for you 🤷

Was Ecuadorian activist Monika Silva murdered for exposing govt-cartel links? The Grayzone's Oscar Leon spoke with close colleagues and friends of Ecuadorian activist Monika Silva, whose killing has shocked the nation, and deepened questions about the government's ties to narco cartels. Monika Silva was one of Ecuador’s most tireless anti-corruption and environmental activists. On June 8, she was found dead in her home in Montañita, Ecuador. The government claims she was depressed, and had committed suicide. This was misleading at best. A recent postmortem investigation revealed that Silva had been killed by a blunt trauma to the head, and strangulation. In the months leading up to her death, Silva had repeatedly warned that her life was in danger. She also revealed that she had presented evidence to the US Embassy in Quito of Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa’s links to the international drug trade. Noboa happens to be a key Trump ally, a billionaire son of Miami, who is rapidly transforming Ecuador into a militarized bulwark of US control. Silva's killing, and the government’s deceptive statements about it, demonstrate the harsh reality that forced so many Ecuadorians into silence. It is not safe to investigate corruption in this country.
