Polio programme personnel operate in the world's most fragile and difficult-to-reach settings. This makes them uniquely positioned to strengthen #childhealth. At #WHA79, practitioners and global health leaders, including polio champion and Rotarian @RAMESHFERRIS, discussed the wider impact of the #EndPolio effort, including how the programme's infrastructure and reach can be leveraged for other health priorities. On the occasion of National Pulse Polio Day, Inaugurated the Pulse Polio Immunization Drive at Kutti Vellodi Hospital, Sitafalmand and administered polio drops to children. Later, reviewed the medical services being provided at the UPHC and interacted with Dr. Prathyusha Garu regarding healthcare facilities. Also inspected sanitation works in the TRT Quarters area of Sitafalmandi, interacted with sanitation workers to understand their concerns. Additionally, took note of a local electricity pole issue and assured residents that I would pursue the matter with the concerned officials for an early resolution.

Reaching every child in South KP is critical to achieving a polio-free Pakistan. 🙌 A four-day South KP Review and Planning Workshop (June 9–12, 2026) is being held in Islamabad under the leadership of Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq, Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Eradication, alongside Muhammad Anwarul Haq, National Coordinator NEOC, Shafiullah Khan, Provincial Coordinator KP and Technical programme leadership. The workshop has brought together key stakeholders to review progress, challenges, and strategic priorities for polio eradication efforts across the region. Discussions are focused on the epidemiological situation, campaign quality, surveillance performance, access-related challenges, and communication interventions in high-risk and access-constrained areas. The workshop is aimed at developing division, district, and UC-specific action plans for July–December 2026, with clear priorities, responsibilities, timelines, and accountability measures. The session reaffirms the collective commitment to reaching every child and strengthening coordinated efforts toward a polio-free Pakistan. #PolioFreePakistan #EndPolioNow
