"Whenever you win, your mom wins" - my mom. Its probably one of my fav sayings in the whole universe. I was a bit lost in college. Found this slack message I sent to my research program slack during a rough time in October 2020. Posting the screenshot for anyone who is going through a rough week. Building is brutal, and you need a strong "Why?" to get through the pain of it. But equally important, dont forget to keep your biggest supporters in the loop. Share the wins with them, even the small ones, even if they dont understand half of what you do. If your mom is one of those supporters (and most likely she is), call her today and tell her something youre proud of. She doesnt need to understand the details. Just give her a reason to feel the win. Tbh I kinda forgot this part for a while. I don't think I share the small wins with her anymore. Really glad I got reminded today. And Im glad I now get to build something for moms like mine, the ones who give up parts of their own life so their kids can win. Happy mothers day to all the moms.

Kinda crazy but all the learnings from that first user interview are still true. Good user interviews are all you need.
Bondu @heybondu ($5.3M seed, Founders Inc) is building an interactive AI toy for kids. When developing the product, @Fateen_Anam stood outside a children's playground holding a prototype teddy bear with wires coming out of it. He wasn't allowed inside. So he waited for parents to come out and talk. Real validation rarely happens in comfort. It looks more like awkward, real-world conversations.

Power-user stories should be a trend. They remind us: - why we’re building - what to improve next - what the magic looks like in real homes We’ve shared these on Instagram YouTube. Posting them here now.

this was the first teddy I took the streets for testing - all components hanging outside - barely audible speaker - mic had to be unplugged every time a kid said something - mobile hotspot had one bar - prompt was horrible
