The subs were immense when they came on. We thought Dan Burn was part of Thomas Tuchel's 'special team' at the other end, but he & John Stones led the resistance here. They blocked, headed & kicked everything. Djed Spence, too, he should start QF.

England have done it! Their spirit & resistance with 10 men was immense. Heroes all over the pitch. Look at them on the floor! They'll now play Norway for a place in the semi-final. What an opportunity. This was a game for the ages, it had everything!

For 10 minutes after England's second, that was sheer force-of-nature stuff from Mexico. England should be very happy with 2-1 at the break. You're not going to see a more eventful, emotional 15 minutes of World Cup football from the point of England's opener. Sensational.
