The BPPA continues to stand up and fight for Boston’s Finest as evidenced by today’s full page ad in the @bostonherald. In it, we remind our elected officials to craft legislation that will help, not hurt, the hard-working men and women of the BPD.

We’re beyond outraged. WATCH as Body-Worn Camera video captures the violence directed at our officers. 6 treated for injuries after being struck by fireworks. The attack, as the video shows, is unmistakably intentional. The disrespect entirely inexcusable. Meantime, the silence from certain members of @BOSCityCouncil is shameful but not surprising.

Hate to say we told you so. Boston erupted in chaos and violence again last night. 13 people shot, at least two dead, two more stabbed early this morning and all the while “officer in trouble” calls being heard all across the city. BPPA continues its calls for more cops on the street and more help from elected leadership.

Thank you @EdforBoston. Your support is always appreciated.
See attached letter I sent, via e-mail, BPD Commissioner Cox this morning. We need a comprehensive public safety plan that includes hiring hundreds of officers every year. Staffing levels are dangerously low. Shifts are not filled, impacting public safety in our neighborhoods.

Another fallen hero. This time in Pennsylvania. State Trooper Michael Pahira Jr. was killed in the line of duty on July 1, 2026, after being struck by a tractor-trailer on I-81. Our thoughts and prayers remain with all who knew, loved and worked alongside him.

Mayor Michelle Wu has touted Boston as the “safest major city” in America for two years, but the city’s largest police union says the recent spate of violence and attack on cops has it trending more toward Chicago’s lawlessness. bostonherald.com/2026/07/01/…

Thank you @EdforBoston. We couldn’t agree more. The hardworking men and women of the BPPA deserve better.
It should never be acceptable to assault a police officer or first responder. As a city, we can't allow this ongoing disrespect and violence against any police officer. City leaders can’t ignore the ongoing violence against police officers. #bospoli

Nobody appreciates the hard work and professionalism of the nurses at the Brigham more than the hardworking men and women of the BPPA. Of course, we stand in solidarity and support of their efforts to secure fair and equitable wages and cost of living increases for their members.

Sunday night, a BPD officer tried to make an arrest at a street takeover in Dorchester. Instead, he was attacked by bystanders who threw drinks and trash at him. Larry Calderone @BostonPatrolmen is calling on Boston City Council to denounce this violence.

Our officer was grossly disrespected. No police officer should ever be treated that way. We appreciate the Herald for covering the story. To be clear, it’s never okay to hurt, harm or disrespect the police officers who protect and serve this city. bostonherald.com/2026/06/30/…

Thank you @EdforBoston. We appreciate your support.
On Tremont Street, following last night’s triple shooting. We desperately need a new public safety summer plan. Boston does not have enough police officers, we are significantly understaffed. Police Officers need to be part of the solution and respected by city leaders!

Per BPPA Pres. Larry Calderone, “Before a cop gets killed, I’m calling on every elected member of @BOSCityCouncil to condemn the attack on our officer. The fact that so many have remained silent is a slap in the face to every hardworking cop in the city. Denounce the violence. Unless, of course, you’re okay with Boston feeling more and more like Chicago.”

Safest city in America? Not so much. The increasing levels of violence and attacks on police should have everyone concerned. And if a triple shooting in Boston’s Theater District doesn’t grab your attention, you may want to check for a pulse.

Parking at hospital garages should be free. Employees, nurses, and patients shouldn’t be paying to show up or get care.

Completely unacceptable. The disrespect is alarmingly disgraceful. This is Boston at its worst. If you think this type of behavior is remotely acceptable, you’ve lost your mind. Our cops deserve better.
Wild footage of a mob throwing trash at a Boston police officer as he tries to arrest an alleged criminal is going viral. This comes as critics say Boston’s elected officials do not prioritize police

Enough is enough. The disrespect is disgraceful. This officer’s lucky to be alive. And, understaffing didn’t help him. Sending cops from one understaffed station to another is an absolute joke. Fewer cops means less safety. Being outnumbered on the streets is BAD FOR EVERYBODY. instagram.com/reel/DaK5sYMOY…

With 5 people shot last night in Mattapan, let’s be honest. Boston’s reputation as America’s safest city is under attack. Neighborhoods away from the FIFA spotlight are seeing more violence. Make no mistake about it. We need more cops. Doing more with less leads to more violence.

38-years-ago, Chip Zigulis became the 1st person with an intellectual disability to serve as a State House page. He served with grace, charm and decency and Chip will certainly be missed.
