These designed proteins:
• Bind adhesins from uropathogenic E. coli and A. baumannii with high-affinity and atomic-level precision
• Prevent adhesion, dislodge bacteria, and disperse biofilms
• Significantly reduce bacterial burden in preclinical mouse models of UTIs

Instead of killing MDR bacteria outright, we used #proteindesign to generate custom proteins that disarm them.
We used #RFdiffusion to design miniproteins that neutralize adhesins, a type of molecular "grappling hook" that bacteria use to stick to tissues and medical devices.

Antibiotic resistance is a major global threat. New therapeutic approaches will be vital to stem the tide of multidrug resistant bacterial pathogens. In the paper that we just released on BioRX (tinyurl.com/ytszdbxt), we introduce a new class of precision antimicrobials.

This collaborative project between @UWproteindesign and @UCSF has expanded the available channels of communication of T Cells beyond what nature evolved. This work will also aid in the development of safer and more effective (CAR T Cell) treatments for cancer patients!

Lol, just listened to a podcast that interviewed a Trump supporter wearing a MAGA hat that was made in Bangladesh 😂 had me thinking what percentage of MAGA hats are actually made in the USA...? 🤔
