Again, by your logic every “gifted” player would be a good. That’s not true. The premise of your position is incorrect. “It’s not a skill-based sport” - That’s not true. It is a skill based sport and I’d argue it’s a sport with the most VARIED skill sets in all of sports, simply based on number of positions.

Coach, there was a very important part of that response you're alluding to: "It's not a skill-based sport. It's about sculpting pre-existing traits that are created mostly due to genetic lotteries. Apart from a few outliers." Still gotta sculpt the gifts!

By that logic, every big, fast, strong, and hardworking player would be a good player. We know that’s not the case. Physical traits create opportunity. They don’t guarantee performance. Traits can get you in the building. Skill determines whether you can actually stay in it.
