We paid for what you sent us. It wasn’t charity. We were still paying off the loans 40 years later.
You didn’t start US protection of Atlantic convoys til mid-1941 — and even then it was limited.
Of course we could not have defeated Germany without US intervention. But we had saved ourselves from defeat before US intervened.
It was a great Anglo-American alliance that then defeated the Nazis (along with Russia). Why would a governor of Florida want to demean that?
Go relearn history, you dolt.
Lend-Lease (March 1941) kept Britain economically afloat once its dollar and gold reserves were nearly exhausted, supplying food, fuel, aircraft, and raw materials. American naval escorts in the Atlantic increasingly helped against U-boats even before Pearl Harbor. After December 1941, full US belligerency transformed Britain’s strategic position from survival to eventual offensive.
So America was decisive for Britain’s long-term survival and ultimate victory, without which Germany would undoubtedly have successfully conquered the British Isles.
