The USS Constitution, aka Old Ironsides, is the world’s oldest commissioned war ship still afloat! She was launched in 1797, one of six original frigates authorized for construction by the Naval Act of 1794 and the third constructed. The name “Constitution” was among ten names submitted to President George Washington by Secretary of War Timothy Pickering in March or May for the frigates that were to be constructed. Happy Independence Day America! 🇺🇸🫡 #america250 #america #independenceday #july4th

I think the distinction is that Constitution is still “afloat”. If Victory gets back in the water then she can reclaim the crown

Ankole Customary Justice vs Uganda Constitution: President Museveni left us shaking our heads when he shared his belief that Ankole cultural norms of justice (Okuhoora and Okukaraba) are superior to those established under the Uganda constitution. He shared how justice was administered during the Bush war to win hearts in Buganda: By ignoring neo-colonial courts and conducting summary executions after speedy trials by the High Command. He presented the presumption of innocence as a colonial concept that allows somebody that commits an offence to deny it; adding that this is very provocative to ‘we’ the indigenous people and it represents impunity. And suddenly we understood all the theatre in Baguma’s court. The President also gave us insight into machinations that side-step the constitution and institutions established under it. He highlighted how the high command ignored Janet Mukwaya’s ruling and Jim Muhwezi’s pleadings to summarily execute Zabuloni; today he is impatient with courts which do not speedily try Besigye and hand him over for execution. He illustrated how he has successfully built parallel institutions to ensure that his goals are achieved! Rather than train and rehabilitate the UPDF to fight corruption and advance his goals, he simply directed his son to handpick individuals to form a parallel Force that would do his bidding just like the basossodoti military officer of the bush days. But that is not the only institution he has undermined. When the legislature would not pass the laws he wanted, he managed that institution by appointing an electoral commission filled with cadres that would give him the legislators he needed to establish a rubber stamp Parliament. If the judiciary would not bend to his will, then he appointed cadre judges who would rule in his favor. The small problem he still has with the judicial system is not a lack of cadre judges but rather the limitations that the constitution creates in their methods of work. For example it gives his enemies a right to bail and a fair hearing! He tried to dodge these in the case of Kizza Besigye by using the court martial as an alternative but this short cut was thwarted by neo-colonial courts. But he has now fixed that by turning to Parliament to change the law to ensure that in future civilians cannot escape his court martial. But in the meantime he must find a way to deal with Besigye under the neo-colonial system where accused people still have rights! If it were up to him he would abrogate the constitution and revert to the indigenous laws of Ankole to summarily try and execute Besigye just like he did Zabuloni. Now, our constitution has been raped and abused to among other things remove term and age limits in order to allow President Museveni to remain in power. What we are witnessing during this rape, is an attempt to completely remove individual rights and freedoms from the constitution. It is therefore the duty of every right thinking Ugandan to fight for Besigye’s freedom. We have stood watching, powerlessly as the institutions of the State were captured by the rulers. Now they are coming for individuals and one day it may be you. Think about it!

👍🏽 The "survival" of "the rule of law" in accordance with the Constitution, DEMANDS that person's having engaged in "unlawful" practices be subjected to imprisonment.📃

Birthright citizenship. First why does the court take the case when it was settled law and the words of the Constitution are clear. Secondly, why wasn’t it decided 9-0.

‘And on July 4, 2026 — the semiquincentennial itself — the sequence reached its capstone. BGF and AIWS proclaimed the Boston Declaration: On the Primacy of the Human Person in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, drafted by Tuấn, alongside the Lumina Laureates award and the launch of a Constitution for Humanity to be presented in 2027. Its preamble opens by invoking 1776 in the acknowledged register — correctly, and beautifully: two hundred and fifty years ago “a people declared that human beings are not the property of kings,” that each person is “endowed with a dignity no crown may grant and no power may withdraw.” That is the categorical-realist grammar exactly: dignity endowed, prior, unwithdrawable. But read the sentence that immediately follows. From that 1776 declaration, the Boston Declaration states, “grew the institutions of trust on which free peoples have depended ever since.” The move is performed in the seam between two sentences. The Creator’s endowment of 1776 is silently reread as the origin of “institutions of trust” — and the reader who has followed this series knows what “Trust Infrastructure” names in the AIWS apparatus‼️. ‼️The endowment has been rerouted into the certification architecture in the space of a paragraph break.’ (Turner) open.substack.com/pub/courte…

Of course, everyone loves America. What the majority do not love is the Trump administration and the out of control Oligarchy. Besides, talking about exiling Americans is a waste of time because it's unconstitutional. Under Article III, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, treason is limited to only two specific actions: Levying war against the United States. Adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.

I agree with Mark to the extent that we should disqualify certain ideologies from holding public office, namely socialists, communists and Muslims - based on the fact that you cannot uphold your oath of office to uphold the Constitution while simultaneously holding allegiance to an ideology that is diametrically opposed to the founding principles of that same Constitution. You cannot serve two masters. You can hold those views privately and that is your right but you cannot uphold your oath of office, which should be disqualifying. I do agree, however, that it could be a slippery slope and one that could keep the Supreme Court busy.

And the Cayetano siblings are now preaching about the Constitution. The same Constitution that they routinely defied when it comes to Duterte and their cohorts. Hypocrites. 🙄 The Cayetanos have no moral ascendancy and credibility to stand up for the Constitution.

The constitution doesn't matter anymore in the US. There's obviously not one damn true Republican in the Senate. If there were something would be done by now to help make our country safe and secure.

Imagine being self righteous while calling others out for the same Philadelphia was the first capital of the United States under the Continental Congress and the Articles of Confederation (1774–1785). New York City became the first capital following the ratification of the U.S. Constitution in 1789.

Of course every culture has value and worth. I’m a huge fan of the consensus model of democracy used by the Haudenosaunee, who the US borrowed from for their own constitution. There’s one example. Are you sure you just don’t want to go straight to the R word to describe me?
