so in G1, unlike many later continuities, the Autobots and Decepticons aren't really something you choose to join, you just Are one (they use the word "race" to describe them a few times but i prefer not to Because Of The Implications) like they existed as groups before the war

The only time this was valid, was when Sentinel was scrapping with the rest of the Autobots (where you had multiple things to look at), other than that, it's not valid

I feel the TF movies would have been far better if they were just the Autobots and Decepticons with the human military and cut out Sam and other civilian humans. As an example, Megatron teaming up with terrorist cells and Optimus teaming up with NATO.

Some Libertarians who had anti-military viewpoints tend to dislike these films for portraying soldiers as good guys and being competent. Saying that “they had no rights to fight alongside with heroic autobots!” 😅

Starscream needs to have like an actual reason NOT to join the autobots in some continuities… like sometimes Megatron will be WAY too abusive and Starscream just… doesn’t do anything about it
